We stayed at the hotel for a romatic break and it was lovely. Very welcoming and homely, with a fantastic roaring open fire. The staff were friendly and helpful, the standard of food was excellent and not overpriced with a good selection of wines, beers and after dinner drinks.
The bedrooms are full of olde worlde charm and character and...

I have read quite a lot of the reviews on both this and other review sites as I was booked into the hotel through work. I can honestly say the staff were more than friendly and couldn't do enough to help us during our stay.
The room and atmosphere was very charming, everything you would expect from a quaint hotel...

We called into this hotel on one of the coldest and wettest days just before Christmas, for a drink and a meal, and to enquire about a potential two-night stay. We entered into an large but empty bar area, harshly and coldly lit by too many glaring shadeless 60W bulbs, where there was a huge fireplace that had one smouldering...

I can only apologise if this was your experience at The Unicorn and I will be addressing the issues.
We were in the process of changing all the lampshades in the bar at that time and I can only say that unfortunately you arrived just as that was partly finished. The fire should be welcoming and so should my staff...

My wife and I stayed here for a 3 day break just after New Year. Staff, both front of house and behind the scenes were excellent, the small sitting rooms were lovely and the pub/restaurant was just what you'd expect. Food was good for the price. {Breakfasts were very dull though - everything was there but nothing stood out -...

Thank you for for your constructive comments which I have have taken on board and as a result have implemented a more stringent inspection of the rooms. One comment I should howevwer make is that The Hotel does date back to 1642 so there are leaks and constant maintenance issues. The fixtures and fittings may not be brand new which...

We stayed for 2 nights in Dec 2011. All the staff were lively, room was generous as was the bathroom and both were clean. Dining and bar were both lovely with the sweetest girl working in there. Food was good- dinners were delicious!
We hired a car to explore in and found this was the perfect start and end to...

Lovely old and cheerful hotel in Stow on the Wold with friendly staff and a cheery welcome. Freshly cooked breakfast was served in the restaurant and there is a pleasant bar with a vast fire. The rooms are perhaps a little tired, but clean,

My wife and I have just returned from 3 lovely days in the Cotswold. We stayed at the Unicorn Hotel, Stow-on-the-World. This is a wonderful 400+ year old traveller rest. You really get a feel for the place as soon as you enter and through to the bar area with its roaring fire that was regularly attended to.
The staff...
