I visited cowards in august whilst visiting some old friends in Brighton, Gerry and his partner were very good, had a lovely breakfeast every time i could manage to make it downstairs in time, the hotel is very close to the gay village area, my room was small but comfortable with a tv,fridge and kettle and someone called round every... We stumbled into Cowards, after stupidly turning up in Brighton with no reservations! Gerry was able to accommodate us for the one night we needed. The rooms are cosy and nicely appointed, if a little dated, but you can see that these rooms have been done to a high standard, the bed was very comfy, with lovely bed linen and... More

Stayed here with my girlfriend for the weekend and can definately recommend it. It is no frills but the room is fine and the breakfast was spot on, so just what you want and expect from a B&B, plus was a bit cheaper than other places I tried so added bonus. The owner is great, very friendly and helpful. He... More

The hotel is located on a busy road and not double glazed so noisy at night. We also were not provided with any soap in our en suite bathroom, towels where not changed over our four night stay and room was not vacuumed at all. The only good thing was the breakfast each morning and the close proximity to Brighton's... More

Cowards is a special place in every particular. Jerry is so very friendly and chatty which adds a homely touch. With regard the catering, I always think that the best part of the day is the breakfast at Cowards. Forget the "separate tables treatment" that is to be had in other B and B's, the convivial atmosphere at Cowards is... More

My partner and I spent a couple of nights at Cowards after the Isle of Wight festival, so we were certainly in need of a bit of relaxation! Gerry was a fantastic host, and his breakfast superb. Plus Cowards is only a very short walk from the Lanes etc, and of course Brighton was fantastic as ever. Really liked the... More

My partner and I stayed at Cowards for 2 nights in May. We truely enjoyed our stay and we were made to feel really welcome as visitors from America. Loved the full English breakfasts cooked for us each morning as we got the day started. Would certainly stay there if we returned. Thanks Gerry and David. More

I stayed 1 night here, and won't be staying again (unless I can't avoid it). Positives: The manager is very nice and friendly, the bed was comfortable, the room was a good size, and there was no problem with noise. Negatives: The bathroom door didn't close properly (and obviously hasn't for years), the room looks like it hasn't been redecorated... More

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Cowards. The room was large, clean and quiet. Gerry is an absolute gem - very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Overall we were made to feel very welcome, and it felt like a home from home. Highly recommended. More
