After staying at another Swanage hotel and being bitterly disappointed, we were somewhat hesitant when we arrived and saw a huge barrier in front of the garden where a recent landslide had made access to the beach impossible. Just had a long Bank Hol weekend at this hotel. My first long stay in a British Hotel. Absolutely luvved it. The staff were so friendly the breakfast was superb. What's great about The Pines? Its location - fantastic views up and down the coast from its site above the beach. Really friendly, helpful staff. There's an iPod dock in the room and ample parking in front of the building in the private car park. And unfortunately that's pretty much it. In many ways it's a bit of a time-travel... More

Just spent a very pleasant 4 nights at The Pines. Lovely views, clean, comfortable bedrooms, super breakfast and efficient, friendly staff to cater for your every need. Dinner main courses at £18 and house wines at £18 are not cheap, but choice, quality and quantity makes it worth the money. Great hotel.

Friendly, nicely appointed and a good breakfast. Top of the hill situation provides a haven from the seafront attractions. Stayed in a spacious twin bedded room which was comfortable with a great sea view. A classic English hotel.

What a disappointment this hotel turned out to be. The decor in the rooms is very dated, with nasty fluorescent lights and suspended ceilings (with those nasty polystyrene tiles) making the place feel cheap and utilitarian. Spent an enjoyable week with a group of walkers in early May at The Pines. The staff were all welcoming and helpful - we were always made to feel at home. Magnificent view of the cliffs and sea from my room. Delicious breakfast selection and dinner was always good. Would definitely stay again.
