We spent the month of March driving around the UK and stayed in lots of very nice B&Bs in interesting, picturesque, quaint places...The Old Manor is definitely the most fascinating, and excellent place we stayed. We are from the US, fascinated with the history of "the mother country"...and great fans of Thomas Hardy's work...so The Old Manor was especially interesting...

Mulu and Andrew are the most natural hosts who entirely put you at your ease. From the initial warm welcome and assistance with kids and baggage up splendid staircase, to the generous and delicious breakfasts (which were tailored to a range of requirements in our 6-strong party), Mulu and Andrew demonstrated that our comfort was their primary concern. Mulu's treatments...

We stayed at the Old Manor at the start of April for 5 nights - myself, my 1 year old and my mother and also my friend and her two daughters. It is such an elegant and grand property and Andrew and Mulu Thomson gave us the very warmest of welcomes and were faultless in their helpfulness and hospitality throughout...

A great place to Stay, Andrew and Mulu are great hosts, and make you feel very welcome in their home. House is a real step back in time, with a modern twist.

We stayed at The Old Manor for one night in December and enjoyed every element of our time there.
The house is simply beautiful, our suite was especially comfortable, and has been well restored/maintained by the owners. Speaking of the Thomson's - a friendly, helpful couple with the ability to 'cook up a storm'!!
Would highly recommend this lovely retreat...

Not just an exquisite Elizabethan manor house with its furniture and fabrics, but en suite bathrooms, beautiful linen and much attention to comfort (soaps, shampoos and power showers!). The very best feature is the most happy, charming welcome we have ever experienced. Constantly helpful but not intrusive, Andrew and his wife Mulu Thompson are simply a delightful couple who clearly...

From beginning to end, Andrew and Mulu gave us their undivided attention. Nothing was any trouble at all. The breakfast was extensive and beautifully cooked and presented. The suite of rooms and the grounds were a pleasure to use - especially the lakeside walk. This house was close to 'Hardy' history, and was on the route for many other destinations....

What a wonderfully charming place this is. We stayed in the Maurwood Suite..with 4 poster bed, adjoining sitting room...and ample bath room. Luxurious spendour! The hosts looked after us very well....and our trip was rounded off with a very good breakfast. This place is full of character and we had a very comfortable stay in peaceful surroundings.
