Stayed for 1 night in May. Had 2 lovely rooms on the 3rd floor. Nice and spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Very good breakfast - full English and a buffet of cereals and fruit. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful, gave us directions to a lovely pub for dinner and some ideas for things to see and do... More

We have stayed at the Wessex Royale a few times over the last few years. We stayed there this week - cancelled a trip to Salisbury a few weeks ago because of the weather and so decided to go last minute. We watched the costs of the hotels for a few days and managed to book a "deluxe" double with... More

During a family visit to Dorchester a large group of us (approx 12) had an evening meal at the Wessex restaurant. It was cold outside and warm inside. While we were the only guests for some of the meal and therefore there wasn't a big vibe, they made us feel welcome and looked after us very well. Everything was served... More

Stayed one night and thank goodness it was only one night. The bedroom was the smallest most miserable cold hotel room that I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. The bathroom in my own house is bigger. It was on the third floor and everything creaked. (There is no lift.) The bedding consisted of a single blanket and... More

Stayed two nights, staff very friendly but woken very early both mornings due to being able to hear everything in corridor and from above, this continued until midday. Everything creeks loudly average speech very audible. Uncomfortable bed. Tried breakfast first morning, just dreadful. No parking available. In great need of a makeover. More

Two nights, bargain offer in late March. Hospitality is alive and well here. The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was immaculate, comfortable and everything worked - hot water, electrics (kettle, bedside lamps, TV & hairdryer). The parking was a bit tight, we squeezed into the last space. It's 3-star, so not a swanky joint full of... More

The hotel is central to the shops. Ideal as a base for exploring the coastal towns. The room was clean and of a good size. Fortunately we were at the rear of the hotel so did not experience any noise from the passing traffic. Breakfasts were tremendous and again the staff could not be more accommodating. My wife and I... A nice hotel with pleasant staff. Excellent check in, very comfortable rooms and clean bathrooms! Beds are currently sheets and blankets, but evidently duvets are to arrive soon. This will be an improvement! Breakfast is very good, although if you ask for tea, you will most likely get coffee - Magda is rather mardy in the mornings, and does not... More

We stayed at the Royale Wessex Hotel for two nights in February. Originally a Georgian townhouse, it has been tastefully decorated and refurnished. It is ideally located in High West Street, and convenient for exploring Dorchester on foot. Parking in Dorchester is notoriously limited and can be expensive, and, although the hotel’s car park (which is at the rear of... More

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a wedding party. Hotel is clean enough but the decor is is quite dated. That being said all of the staff were absolutley great, friendly and very helpful. Especially the bar staff who let us have a very very late drink! More
