We booked a two night stay at the Cumberland through Hotels.com. The day before travel I received an email from hotels.com saying that I had to pay an extra £40.00 to accommodate my 2nd child. (I had booked and been charged for a room for 2x adults and 2x children) so to be asked for more money just before traveling... More

Four of us visited the Cumberland for my birthday week-end. This was my 5th visit to the Cumberland. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly reception staff but our rooms were not ready - even though they were guaranteed from 2.30 p.m. We went for an hour's walk and then managed to gain access to our rooms. Both rooms... More

My wife and I have just returned home from a fantastic weekend at the Cumberland Hotel where we were treated to a break by our family to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our arrival was a bit shakey to start with as the parking is a bit tight, then when we checked in the receptionist tried to charge us for a... More

I had heard good things about the Cumberland Hotel prior to booking our company Christmas party there, and this favourable opinion was reinforced on the night. The party was a great sucsess; as the staff all enjoyed the food, hospitality and general atmosphere of the hotel bar and restaurant. Despite being extremely busy the hotel staff seemed to take it... Took advantage of winter sale and stayed for a couple of days (Thursday & Friday). Found all the staff very polite and friendly. Faulty light bulb tripped out the electrics and was resolved within 20 minutes on our second evening. Had a sea view room which was well decorated but the floors were creaky and the bathroom needs attention -... More

I stayed here on a Friday night with my partner as it was my 36th birthday. We live in the area and We have been to this hotel many times before for a night out in thier bar and also for day drinks by the pool (which is lovely in the summer). This time we opted to stay the night,... More

Dear TJD5, thank you for being a great customer of the hotel, particularly the food and beverage operation. Our coffee at Breakfast is actually Dow Egberts premium coffee, the self serve machines were placed in for customer convenience in line with many European and London hotels, we also have the option of fresh Costa coffee from the bar at a... A very nice hotel, well appointed in an art deco theme, I was upgraded to a family seaview room that had a magnificent view overlooking the coast, a very nice balcony which was a suntrap with the sun on it all day so even in the cold weather the balcony was lovely and warm. The room was a bit sparse... More

Dear mikelevy, thank you for an all round great review. I am very pleased you enjoyed your sea view room and balcony, and the service at the hotel. Regarding food, we do have an AA rosette in our brasserie Ventana, which also has some great offers on 2 for 1 main courses Monday to Thursday, not sure if you realised... More

Stayed for a weekend break, location was great as room had a brilliant view of the sea. However the walls were a little thin and the floors were very creaky! Arrived to find a wedding was booked on the Saturday so was concerned about noise but never heard a thing. Breakfast was great with lots of choice More

Dear happy guest, thank you for the super comments regarding room and breakfast. Apologies for the creaky floor, being a 1930's build art Deco structure, the hotel does have some quirks, we are eradicating these slowly as we continue our rolling programme of carpet replacement. More
