...the building and location are so good and they are being so badly let down. it's like being on some old film set; the shining meets sunset boulevard meets great expectations. the whole place looks like it needs cleaning and painting. sheets, pillow cases, towels all look a bit suspect. all i could think about after having left early was... I have been twice to the Cliff House, once in January and again in April both 2013. Any criticism of the hotel would be entirely confined to the heating of public spaces but in good temperatures, both the terrace, garden and lounge are a real delight. The building is a really gorgeous older property that receives regular maintenance and has... More

My partner and I had such a wonderful relaxing break, exactly what we had planned for. The hotel has such a wonderful character and charm and the atmosphere was so comfortable and welcoming. If you are looking for the sterile and generic ambiance that larger chain hotels offer than maybe this is not for you, but if you want to... More

Had a fantastic time, thanks to robert and the staff and will keep coming back as I have been for past 15years! Well deserved love it, love it, love it! Well worth just leaving your car and walking into the town, not far from the seafront and a good town centre beach. Fantastic in the winter. Will always look after... More

I went to the Cliff House to meet a friend there. She was still upstairs getting ready to go out and I was made to feel very welcome by Robert. After my friend came downstairs to meet me we sat with some of the other guests that we were going out with and even though I was not a guest... More

The location is good, you can walk into town. When you walk in there is a smell that made me think of my Grandparents house. Every thing in the place needs to be deeply cleaned and completely redone. The bedding is old and had stains on it. The fake tile wall paper in the bathroom is pealing off the walls.... More

I stayed for two nights in order to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in style at the Cliff House Party. Renowned for its wonderful friendly and well-attended parties, this was one I didn't want to miss. As usual, the staff were fantastic. The room was comfortable and the atmosphere extremely congenial. The mood of the place is relaxed. I have... More

Start with the positives: the location is great. And you can park on the road. And the staff are relatively friendly. And it's gay. But why on earth would you stay there? There are cheaper and much, much nicer hotels in Torquay. If you have been going there for years maybe you don't notice how awful it is. It's time... More
