This is a typical old fashioned hotel and kind of larger B & B. The floors creaked, carpet in the ensuite a feeling that you are intruding in someones home. Not that I wasn't made welcome I was and that is were the warmth came from. Staff are lovely and the rooms are comfortable. Breakfast was good and location ideal.

Whilst good quality meals with plenty of choice and efficient waiting staff the management seriouly lack people skills. Absolutely no sympathy or compassion evident if you are unlucky enough to be taken quite poorly whilst on holiday there. Expensive holiday, would expect more however the bedroom was sparse and the en-suite was barely funtional.

Warmly received by Louise who could not have been more helpful, given choice of room which was very large and very comfortable bearing in mind singles usuall get broom cupboard. A lovely old style hotel, with bright high rooms and masses of space everywhere (except in the bathroom, but it was ok). Breakfast was excellent being a true ''full english'', my weekend treat. But the star attraction has to be Louise, very helpful and properly attentive, supported by serving staff who were caring and efficient even with a full house.... More

I stayed at the Allerdale while attending a conference in Torquay. The proximity of the Riviera center (conference venue) has to be its number one attraction. Also, for business users, free wifi throughout the hotel is a bonus that you perhaps wouldn't expect in what is otherwise quite a traditional seaside hotel.
