We stayed here with our son during a visit to Plymouth University. David and Jane were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable with everything we needed for an overnight stay. We then had a lovely English breakfast the following morning. The location is ideal to visit all areas of the City, with... More

We have stayed at the Athenaeum Lodge at least half a dozen times as our youngest daughter is studying at Plymouth Uni and is in her final year. We can highly recommend it, because of the warm, friendly welcome from the hosts, Jane and David. The great choice of breakfast, which each time has been first class, The rooms are... More

Wonderful hospitality, rooms and location. Much better and cheaper than the posh hotel I stayed in during the last time I was in Plymouth. More

Jane & David Kewell were extremely welcoming and helpful we had travelled some distance and arrived early yet they were more than happy to let us check-in early unlike other places we have stayed at. Nothing was too much trouble when we needed their help during a small family crisis. The rooms were spotless with lots of little extras (loved... More

The Athenaeum was "just right" in the sense that I stay a lot in B&B's and have high expectations. David and Jane are fine hosts of the "ready to help, friendly welcome, but not over-the-top intrusive" variety. They have comfortable, well furnished rooms with details like shoe polish pads and sensible shampoo and gel containers rather than tiny environmentally unfriendly... More

Stayed here for five nights. Very comfortable room, excellent freshly-cooked breakfasts and friendly hosts. David and Jane were accommodating of my after-hours arrival via the ferry and were also prepared to take delivery of some important mail sent ahead from Australia. Travelling without a vehicle, I found it handy to stay somewhere within walking distance of most places I wanted... More
