Excellent location with fantastic views from our window overlooking harbour and up the river. Our room had been renovated, was comfortable and clean. The hotel is so old but had so much charm, corridors with changing ceiling heights, narrow winding stairways - perfect quaint seaside hotel. Breakfast was very good, with chefs on hand to cook want you wished. However... More

We stayed this hotel back in 2007, the night of the day we got married and thought it'd be very nice to be back. Considering how much we paid, we thought they have improved their services to a much higher standard. It was a bit of a disappointment. We found it very overpriced as you would pay dramatically less for... More

We stayed for one night in The Rising Sun and were very impressed. There was a lovely atmosphere about the place. The staff were all brilliant - so welcoming and friendly. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. The food was excellent. The breakfast in the morning was also good. It was a perfect setting and we thoroughly enjoyed... More

We stayed at the hotel for two nights in late December and found it very charming, full of character, very clean and comfortable. Our room was quite spaceous (considering the age of the property) and we were able to move around the wobbly quirky floor easily, the views were breath taking of the harbour, sea and the landscape. The food... More

Great location but I considered the hotel very expensive for what you get. Our room was so small that only one person could get around the room at the same time and there was bsolutely no sign of a deep-fill bath. The carpet was not very becoming and the shower tiles are perhaps in need of some attention..... Otherwise, it... More

We stayed in a small, quirky but very well-presented room with an immaculate en suite shower. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Downside was the food at dinner, which was rather poor and rather pretentious. The chef needs to learn that insufficiently cooked vegetables - green beans you could snap and boiled potatoes with crunchy middles - are not... More

This is a beautiful spot to stay and great pub too. We stayed for 3 nights in early October in a beautiful room. We had a meal in both the restaurant (a real treat) and the pub. The food in both was really good. The pub itself was a mixture of locals and tourists and is everything you want from... More

We were so looking forward to our weekend break. Arrived to a nice welcome in pouring rain but.... it went downhill from there. Stunning location but our room right at the top of the hotel smelled musty and damp which impregnated our clothes in the wardrobe. The bed was comfortable and apart from the smell and the climb up the... More

We booked this hotel on recommendation of my sister as a place to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly, service was excellent and food delicious. Given its age, the building is naturally quirky, our room was modestly proportioned and the stairs would be tricky for the less agile but that's what gave it... More
