Clovelly is said to be commercialised, but we found this unique fishing village very friendly and welcoming. The New Inn was charming, with a cosy bar, tasty local real ale, and an excellent restaurant. Our room was very comfortable and well-equipped, with a hot bath - much-appreciated after our 11-mile cliff-top walk from Westward Ho! More

Booked into the New Inn, late Friday Morning over the internet. Arrived at 4.30pm Saturday afternoon, greated with a warm welcome and shown to our clean and comfy room. Clovelly is a lovely small fishing village, you can wind down the steep cobbled hill to the Red Lion Hotel, and take in the stunning views along the coast line. The... More

Didn't stay in the hotel but went for lunch. The food was terrible and over priced. We ordered chicken burger and chips, vegetable Lasagne and gammon, eggs and chips. The burger was processed, the gammon tough and eggs runny. The Lasagne was missing veg and was under cooked. To make it worse the place was swarming with flies! There isn't... More

It is such a pretty village and we were able to stay in the heart of it at the New Inn. We had a lovely room with sea views from the large window seat. We ate in the restaurant which provided a lovely dinner. All the staff were very friendly. More

As part of our trek around the south west coast path the New Inn was a very quaint and quite comfortable stop. No TV or radios in the room though and the bar menu was limited with the restaurant closed, but great and very welcome baths. More

We went as a family and after several awful meals at other establishments great at last to have a reasonably decent meal. We ate about 7pm on a weekday and all the tables were taken. The service was good and the food was reasonably priced. A good choice of pubby food. More

Clovelley is on a very steep hill so it is about 8 minutes uphill to this place from the SW Coast path but it is worth the walk up to be away from the 'hustle and bustle' of the harbour area. When we were there they had a music festival at the harbour and it would have been a noisy... More

Went to this hotel one evening as was recomended. Firstly barman was so unfriendly and tutted when two drinks only came to £ 1.40. Went to order a meal but bar man was to busy on the phone. We ordered two meals which were very good, untill two locals ordered the same steak as myself. There meals arrived complete with... More

We have just returned from a two night trip to Clovelly staying at the New Inn. Clovelly itself is beautiful and everything you expect it to be, quaint, cobbled and the best of north . The village only has two hotels and the new inn is apparently the lower of the two. The official rating is two star but I... More
