Fifty five years ago I was introduced to Raffles Hotel. THE Raffles Hotel. It has been my benchmark for charm, service, cleanliness, incredible staff etc etc etc ever since. The Garrack ticks all the boxes. I loved it! Would stay for month - the food was to die for, an extraordinary menu, (but they wouldn't let me buy the chef)... more

The Garrack is a repeat venue for me; I stay here every year. Over many years, the Kilby family has lovingly developed a warm and welcoming venue, with every facility you could wish for, all set in stunning private grounds in the heart of Cornwall. The staff are attentive, but never intrusive. The restaurant is first class, and the compact... more

Stayed 2 nights having looked at a number of other hotels and B&Bs in the St Ives area, all of which were simply too small and too expensive for what they were. Overall good value, lovely staff, good food. We had the Laura Ashley room (room 2?) which was a good size and very comfortable. Only issue was wifi not... more

Reading the Garrack website you would think you are in for a fantastic staycation. You're not - it is damp, dirty and needed decorating years ago. While the staff are friendly and efficient the resturant produced some of the worst food I've ever eaten and at Michelin Star prices. This hotel should NOT be in the Johansen Guide more

The rooms were little better than a travel lodge type. View was of the sea and also the staff smoking area, unofficial. Hotel generally needs total refurb and repaint externally, first impression on arrival in car was poor. Very dissappointed, cant understand how its in Best Hotels of The World and other leading guides. more

The Garrack is beautifully located with a garden overlooking St. Ives and the Atlantic. Spacious rooms, will need some refurbishing in the next years. Excellent breakfast particularly nice in the wintergarden. Although a great place the price at least in the high season is over the upper limit. more

The hotel is tucked away in a not so picturesque part of Saint Ives. On arrival, the guy on recepition left us waiting for at least five minutes while he finished a personal call. Which was rather surprising given that we later discovered that he was one of the co-owners!! We were led to our room through a warren of... more

I have stayed in many hotels throughout the country but not one has come close to this! From first stepping into the hotel we were made to feel welcome and given all the information we needed and shown to our room. The standard of the room was excellent with fantastic views over St. Ives. The bed was large and comfortable... more

As a family, we like to enjoy short hotel breaks across the UK and we are members of a loyalty scheme of a well known hotel chain whom we won’t promote here. Having stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels frequently both on business and pleasure, it is fair to say that we have experienced many of the elements which... more
