Stayed at this HDV last night... first impressions were good- a sensitively restored sugar house, pleasant inner courtyard, sweeping stair case. Oh dear! You could damn this hotel by saying it's all fur coat and no knickers. But that would be ungenerous. The staff were all excellent, friendly, helpful, and the receptionist I dealt with was the best I have ever come across. Anywhere. The welcome was anything but - the girl on reception needs a lesson in making people FEEL welcome. A smile would help. Lovely little hotel. Room was clean and modern with fab bathroom. Main room had huge bed with sky sports (always a nice extra). Fantastic bar with sofa's and mood lighting plus an extensive wine and beer list. Restaurant was superb both for dinner and breakfast. I would definitley go back! more
