The hotels were crazy expensive and the popular hostel along the waterfront was booked, so they recommended rock and bowl. I got what I paid for at 17 GBP: creaky old metal bed, roommates, and street noise all night.
Having said that, the staff was very nice, the bowling alley retro cool, and the location convenient though not entirely safe...

A group of us were booked in here for a stag weekend. The younger members were fine with the place but as a 51 year old who is used to staying in proper hotels I would never stay here again. It is the only place I have ever been where reception gives out free ear plugs! Not that are any...

Do not really know how to describe this hostel...
I should stay here four days, but left after two. I lived in the most dirty place I ever experienced. The quality of the hostel is beneath contempt and I met many disgruntled travelers during my two days here, Especially those who were not from United Kingdom.

Pros - Massive lounge areas, tv, kitchen and staff. Location unbeatable. big building and wide rooms. Price ok.
Cons - Very busy on the weekend I stayed then much more relaxed during the week.
Drink vending machine does not work.

Ok its £20 a head but you can get a room with a chain hotel and not have the hassle of making your own bed, or having an endless list of rules.
Rooms were clean enough but quite cold in the mornings and the noise from the bar down stairs is immense.

Good points: obviously the price, it's also very central to the city, and the Lanes bar underneath the rooms is a great venue for a night out. The room was let down by some impressively bad wiring (see attached photo - not what you want above your head when you go to sleep) but the bathrooms are clean enough for...

Expecting to sleep before 2am?...forget it!
The bed was horizontal and we had somewhere safe to leave our bags...that's about it. £15 for bed in Bristol...what do you want for that?
Surely there are standards for human habitations...the rearing of chickens has some regulation afterall.
The nearby YHA is a paradise in comparison...actually it's very good! But they were full.

Rock and Bowl Motel is a great hostel. Other reviews seem to have forgotten that it is a hostel not the Hilton. My room was clean, big enough and bright. Lots of communal space is what you need in a hostel to meet others and this has exactly that. Sure it's noisy at weekends but they tell you that on...

The location couldn't be better, and the idea and place itself was cool, but definitely not clean. Only stay if you can't afford somewhere else.
