Staying a few days in Ravenstonedale but not at The Swan, we ventured out on the Saturday evening in the snow, all two hundred yards or so, with our newly purchased 'intrepid travellers torch'. We were going for dinner at 'their place' for a change. It's a lovely welcoming hotel/pub with a traditional bar and roaring fire, Great! The staff... More

This is quite a difficult review. We were staying six miles away and took advantage of a recommendation to walk to the Black Swan. A hundred yards prior however, was your newly renovated competitors, the Kings Head. So we stopped in there for a pint or three and moved on to the Black Swan. We did not eat, so can... More

We had the room at the top which is an apartment with sitting room and kitchen. There are no utensils and everything is switched off in this area, but it was ideal for us.We never found out if this could be used as part self catering or not, but it would be a great idea if it could. After the... More

this was a lovely pub. Food was excellent.....devine garlic potatoes, i absolutely loved them!! we sat in bar rather than restaurant but liked the atmoshpere of typical country village pub. The starters were good too, a fig salad with blue cheese-very yummy! Service friendly and we would definitely recommend if you are in the area More

Lunch here christmas eve, with children aged 6 & 2. Its not our 1st visit & wont be our last as we live locally, but once again the food was excellent, the staff friendly & attentative especially to our very excited children! One of the staff even convinced our 6 year old she was one of Santa's spy's! All added... More

Just returned home from a wonderful stay at the Black Swan over Christmas. We had stayed at the hotel on previous occasions and always had a good experience. This was the first time the Swan had welcomed guests over the Festive period, and I must say they certainly got it right. We arrived in the afternoon of Christmas Eve and... More

Our second pre-christmas break here on the 2 for 1 deal didn't disappoint. Good room, good bar, good beer, good restaurant and cosy lounge with christmas trimmings and open fire. Owners very friendly and helpful. Excellent walking location. More

Over the last year or so we have been going back to the Black Swan for very relaxing and enjoyable evenings! We stay in a friend's cottage in the village every so often for a weekend but always make sure we book to have our evening meals in the Black Swan. The atmosphere is great, the food fantastic and the... More

The Black Swan is a delightful place in very special little village. The food and drink on offer is a real treat, all served by very attentive and personable staff. We enjoyed our time there so much that we have just booked to go back for the new year such was the relaxed atmosphere created. The bar, restaurant and fire... More

Walking in the area on a very wet day we came across the Black Swan and what a lucky find. The owners and staff could not of done more for us, offering to dry off our clothes near the boiler while we had a lovely bar meal. Special dietary requests were catered for and they even called the butcher just to... More
