We have just stayed at the site for what was a cold bank holiday weekend with my family and friends. The site itself was ok and all you could really want (good clean and warm toilet/shower blocks), the location is great but we were very disappointed with the attitude of the management. I've read the reviews saying "they can't do... More

Thank you for your review, we are glad you liked the site and the area. Unfortunately, you do not state how we failed to live up to your expectations in your report, nor did we receive any complaints over the weekend. Our reception staff did report that they had received a request from a guest for the keys to some... More

We stayed here with another couple at the beginning of April. When we arrived, there was a good few inches of snow on our pitches so the first couple of hours were spent shovelling snow. Unfortunately, the area turned into a bit of a muddy bog but there's not really much we could have done (except have moved to a... More

Lovely location near Bakewell and Ashbourne, really really nice villages both of them. Not much to do on the campsite other than go to the Fasting Duck (or whatever its called) for a pint which isn't expensive at all which was nice. Didn't fancy the food there but the manager was more than happy to recommend a local pizza takeaway... More

Thank you for your review and your understanding with regard to the wet conditions. On Wednesday 4th April we had two feet of snow (no exaggeration) - which melted over the next week. Then it rained very hard - so everything was absolutely saturated. We forked the pitches over which helped a bit, after that there wasn,t much more we... More

We have just had an easter break at Rivendale and unfortuanly, due to the really bad weather, we had a disaster with the tent - the staff (in particular Kim) couldnt do enough for us, even on her day off I think she went over and beyond the call of duty (if you read this Kim THANK YOU AGAIN)!. We... More

Spent 2 nights here from March 16th .... located in an old horse shoe shaped limestone quarry .... great views of the surrounding rock faces .... level grass pitches .... (a bit stoney pegging out, but to be expected considering location) .... excellent shower/WC facilities (security code entry) .... small grocery shop/reception on site .... with cafe/restaurant and bar above.... Thank you for your comments. When you start noticing the sky at night, you start forgetting the stress and trivia of every day life ......which is what holidays are all about. More

Just returned from spending weekend at the site in a luxury family pod. The pod was very clean with definately no cobwebs!! The weather was lovely on our stay which helped however the heater was available if needed at night. The toilets were clean and showers spotless however i imagine these can get busy in peak times of the year.... More

We stayed here as a couple last year for a weekend in one of the camping pods and had a great stay. The campsite facilities were excellent-plenty of toilets and hot showers which were always spotlessly clean. Great to have a well stocked shop on site and a bar and restaurant. Just visited again to stop in the B&B (room... More

Positives first. The lady on reception was lovely and very accommodating, the showers and toilets, shop and general grounds were really clean. Using here as just a base is great, as there are lovely walks to be had. Negatives. It is in an old quarry (not pretty!) and considering the beautiful surroundings, you do NOT get to see any of... Thank you for your feedback, the reception staff are appreciative of your comments. Rivendale is a large south-facing shelf on a hill side, overlooking Alsop & Eaton dales. Whilst the tree-covered, 5 metre bank at the south end obscures the view from the pitches, it also hides the caravans from view - to the benefit of the National Park landscape.... More

The B & B room was lovely and well supplied with everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the place had a nice 'feel' to it. Great breakfast selection, really well cooked. The location was wonderful with great walks on doorstep. The bar was nice, but the food needs to be brought up to the same... More

Thank you for a constructive review. We obviously have some work to do extending and improving the menu as the high season approaches (although I must confess to liking sloppy scrambled eggs) and will be using your feedback to improve our culinary efforts. The pathways around the main toilet building and around reception are gritted. However, salt will only melt... More
