My wife and I decided to try the Sunday carvery a few weeks ago which is open from 12 noon through to 8.30pm, The food was plentiful and tasty and the young waitress serving us was extremely pleasant and helpful. I would recommend the dining experience at The Boars Head to anybody who is looking for value for money and... More

We stayed for one night recently. On the positive side, service was very good and friendly. We were welcomed by the receptionist who was just delightful. Breakfast was also very good with a selection of hot choices from ‘Full English’ to kippers. The continental buffet was also good with a choice of cereals, yoghurts, pastries etc. service at breakfast was... More

When the local population flock to eat somehwere, you know you are in for a treat. The top value Carvery has them queuing at the weekend, and probably the business guests do the same in the week. We stayed on their very reasonable Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Weekend package, and ate a different table d'hote choice every night in the... More

Stayed here and after looking at some of the local alternatives am glad I did. Rooms were very clean and functional, comfy bed and a decent shower. The hotel has a good bar with very efficient and helpful staff. They have a carvery choice which was excellent and cheap and clearly popular at lunchtimes. Breakfast options were good and the... We have just returned from a two night Easter break at this hotel. Although we chose it through a newspaper advert the' dinner, bed and breakfast' offer was available over this busy holiday period. It is really excellent value. We were surprised at the size of the hotel and the rooms were also larger than other b & b places, which... More

The staff are welcoming, pleasant, friendly and attentive. The rooms are warm, comfortable and tastefully decorated and furnished. The facilities included a large modern LCD television, full range of tea and coffee making provisions. Our room had a small settee and armchair as well as a writing desk and chair. The dinner we had in the restaurant was excellent. The... More

We have just spent our third Christmas break at this venue and cannot fault the comfort, food, and friendly staff - plus the whole package from Christmas Eve to 27th Dec. is terrific value. Relaxed atmosphere but plenty of chances to dress up, with live music and a Dinner Dance on Boxing night. Don't understand the comments by some visitors... More

Just returned from a weekend break at the Boar's Head. The weekend consisted of 2 nights stay, 2 breakfasts and 2 evening meals. This was our second visit and we found the service very good and the food excellent. The hotel had a couple of 'do's' on over the weekend but this in no way affected our stay. The only... More

A much looked forward to family gathering was spoilt by very poorly cooked and presented food that evening and a most uncomfortable night's stay. We were asked to have our pre dinner drinks in the residents' bar but there was no one to serve us for a considerable time. The meal itself was dreadful....I hope it was just a bad... More

I have stayed at this hotel several times now as it is a firm favourite with my grandparents. The hotel itself is nothing to write home about, the rooms and bathrooms are basic and perhaps a little on the chintzy side. However the restaurant is amazing. There is a wide array of exquisite dishes, perfectly cooked and delivered with some... More
