As everyone says - a proper pub. It's like stepping back in time. No fripperies,just tables, seats a hatch in the wall and barrels of beer and cider. There are other drinks available but the beer's obviously the thing.

We stopped off at the Barley Mow before starting a walk. Once we stepped into this charming little pub we could have stayed there all afternoon.It is a hidden gem, lost in time. It is small, cosey, simple and atmospheric in a quirky sort of way. It attracts a friendly, interesting crowd. Let's hope it never changes.

Truly and unbelievable unfriendly and inhospitable 'welcome' by the landlady. Went with my wife, in-laws and our 14 month old son for a quick drink. Just don't attempt to take a (smiley, quiet) child in there or the landlady will ensure regret it. The beer was good, the service surly and ungracious.

One for connoisseurs of the true English pub, with no concessions to the bland make overs that have blighted so many of our pubs.
