Taking advantage of one of the last (probably) warm and sunny weekends of the year we departed from Cambridge and drove the four hours to this out of the way country house in the hilly bits of Conwy. It's on the outskirts of the very touristy Betws-y-Coed and the not so quaint Llanrwst. We came in search of delicious food... More

My husband and I, after a number of nights in 4 and 5 star castle and cottage stays, would put Tan-Y-Foel at the top of our list. The most romantic tucked away setting with exquisitely manicured gardens, awesome views, impeccable large rooms and a luxurious shower and tub. This finest of country cottages is replete with the most high quality... More

This is one of the best places to stay in northern Wales. We stayed here for four nights and everything from the service, the meals and rooms were simply overwhelming. The quality of the food was extremely good. The rooms were designed with style and the service perfect. The location has wonderfull view to the valley and is a perfect... More

This is without doubt a 'hidden gem' in the hills of Snowdonia. We keep on returning, because we can find none better in Wales. I have rarely tasted food better than this, unless prepared in Michelin star restaurants. It seems that the conversation at dinner tables constantly 'hums' with positive remarks about the food. This traditional Welsh Farmhouse has been... More

the location - perfect. the food - amazing. Really, really, good. From starter at dinner right through to breakfast, among the best food we've had anywhere. Good wine list too. the room - beautifully clean, comfy, great views, lovely. the host was great too. the only negative for me was the interior design - it's a beautiful old country house... More

A very good friend and I needed to get away for a weekend, and decided to go up Snowdon in Wales. After a great deal of searching on the web, we discovered Tan y Foel, roughly 30 minutes' drive from the bottom of Snowdon. A call to Janet established that we could indeed stay for just the Saturday evening (we... More

It's hard not to ramble on for hours about Tan-y-Foel. Your first impression is the fantastic views in all directions which only get better from your bedroom window. The hosts Peter & Jan could not have been friendlier and we enjoyed chatting with them. Food was amazing - well worthy of the three rosettes and breakfast was equally enjoyable. Our... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tan-y-Foel in northern Wales. We only wish that our one night stay had been longer. We also wish that we had had dinner there as well. Breakfast was delicious! The owners made us feel very welcome and at home. Thanks for everything! More

Agree with many of the other reviews the host was unfriendly and we were not made to feel welcome. The rooms were beautifully fitted although as somebody else stated the annex room does smell of damp. We learned a better room with view was unoccupied. We were baffled that we had not been offered that room initially and it was... More

We have visited this beautiful country house many times over the past several years - enough said! This has to be one of the best if not 'the best small country hotel in Wales.' Just on arriving you will be wowed by the magnificent views of the Conwy Valley . The house itself is very old and full of character... More
