This is one of the best B&B's we have stayed at!! We stayed here one night as we were attending a dance competition in Chatham. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we felt like family. It is such a lovely place to stay, the furnishings were very interesting, rooms very well appointed with the most... More

The house was absolutely goregeous and incredibly clean. We were pleasantly surprised with all the little detailed work in our room and around the house. The antique furnitures and decorations were very interesting. The entire theme of the house made it feel like we were living in a historic castle! The hosts were extremely friendly. They served delicious breakfast with... More

I stay at the Dutchess whenever I am in Chatham, typically twice a year. The rooms are well appointed, quiet, and the beds are extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are large, warm and clean, with soft towels and Aveda bath products. There is great attention to detail (cookies and ice water in the room every evening), an evening tea tray if... Form the moment we arrived we couldn't believe the great service. We were helped with our bags. My wife was cold so they made us hot ciders to enjoy. We said we needed extra pillows and the room temperature was cold. When we got back we had the extra pillows plus a nice note explaining that the room temperature was... More

My husband and I stayed for four nights in the Duchess of Wellington and enjoyed every one of them! The tasteful restoration and furnishing of the Duchess has restored it to its former grandeur without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Rick and Andja could not have been more welcoming and the breakfasts were indeed memorable - something we looked forward to... More

As you walk into the front door of the Duchess of Wellington you seem to be drawn back into the late 1800's by the restored woodwork adornments, fireplace and period furniture. The hosts have gathered history on the establishment's name sake that adds to the atmosphere. We had the Backstage room which was decorated with articles of an 1800's performer.... More

We had the occasion to stay at the "Duchess" on our way to a wedding in March. Having stayed in B & B's before, we had some expectations of the amenities that we preferred, and certainly, the Duchess of Wellington exceeded these. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the charm of the building itself, nestled among a quiet residential area,... More

We stayed at the Duchess in August 2007 and absolutley loved it. An old victorian house, clean, warm, and cozy. We were greeted by the most amazing, friendly couple, they would bend over backwards to help in any way possible, the inside was beautifully decorated with original stained glass windows, original woodwork and wood floors, the room was georgeous, clean... I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful Victorian B&B that is wonderfully decorated with great antique pieces and authentic stained glass and woodwork! The food is amazing - fresh, local and delicious - and the hosts do everything they can to make you feel at home. You can pick from three great rooms - I stayed in the... More
