We have just had an excellent week-end at Gravetye ; excellent accommodation , very good food and great service. Having known that the recent history has been marred by a combination of lack of investment and consequent resulting disinterest , it was a revelation to find that the place is once again , trying to make the climb to its... We were lucky enough to stay at Gravetye during the Christmas holidays. Having been in the past we went with a bit of trepidation as it was our first visit since the renovation. What a great job has been done - all the old charm is still there, but with a little bit of a modern twist. More

We invited 2 friends to join us for dinner at Gravetye Manor as a surprise. I was slightly apprehensive as I had not visited this hotel before and I normally like to visit an establishment prior to inviting people...just in case. I had read a number of reviews about Gravetye and its previous history of ownership and felt prepared for... More

We had an a la carte lunch on a Saturday and it was busy and noisy. The service was excellent as far as friendliness and 'availability' of staff were concerned, but the side dishes arrived a good five minutes after the mains, one of which was fresh and tasty, the other a little underdone and tough. Presentation excellent, and the... More

Stayed here for Xmas (at least that is what we planned). Booked 'Holly' which is one of their Exclusive Deluxe rooms that had been refurbished. By they way, despite being on the 1st floor of the hotel it has the ladies toilets next to it, so in the short time we stayed we heard lots of chattering as ladies visited... More

As soon as the management became aware of the problem with this bedroom, every effort was made to solve the issue and also book the guests elsewhere as regrettably the hotel was full and there was no alternative to offer them in house. We were very sorry for the inconvenience caused and the guests were given a full refund for... More

Everything about this hotel and restaurant is fantastic. If you are looking for an olde worlde hotel with tons of history then this is a place you will love. The restaurant and the wine cellar are top flight and compete with the highest standards of London. Americans will fall in love with this hotel as it is old England and... More

We have just returned home from what can only be described as an exceptional and memorable stay at Gravetye Manor, the food was fabulous and the service glides. The recent refurbishment is very impressive indeed, the rooms have been sympathetically restored allowing for both modern living (wifi etc) and traditional comfort - well done! The staff appear to have been... More

When we arrived, we were enchanted by a magnificent building, the exterior, the grounds with a beautiful garden and the location. This was supposed to be a romantic getaway. Very unfriendly staff especially in the restaurant (except two French girls). Food was lukewarm. The room-rates (we paid £355) aren't out of line with other Relais & Chateaux properties. But we... Dear Reviewer, We were both surprised and saddened to read your review. There is no excuse for unfriendliness or lukewarm food. Both issues are being investigated with staff on duty that week-end. Thankfully a guest staying that same week-end has posted a review below saying ‘The staff are lovely, as ever. Nothing is too much trouble’. Gravetye Manor was in... More

We have just returned from a night at Gravetye - celebrating the 10th anniversary of our first visit. We have been back several times since then and were upset when we heard it had closed. It was with mixed feelings that we went back in the hope things hadn't changed too much but glad that it was open at all.... More

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your wonderful comments, particularly on the refurbishment and our staff. They offer huge encouragement at a challenging time for the hotel. With regards to our food, accolades as you point out can be good for business. But I would like to reassure you that Gravetye is different, we will not let market forces dictate our... More

From the unfinished pre meal drinks being waiter transferred to the correct people at table through to the ordered dishes being discreetly placed with confidence as individually ordered - we experienced very professional service. Excellent meal, restaurant full, great atmosphere. Pricey, but we all agreed - value. More
