This hotel was absolutely beautiful. The furnishings and decor in the lobby and hallways were of museum quality. We must have taken over 50 photos of the inside of this hotel. Of the 5 hotels we stayed in during our 11 night Copper Canyon adventure, ElFuerte Lodge was the favorite of our group of 7 women. The location, a block from the plaza, was convenient. Stayed here December 2004. Clean, good shower, Mexican decor. El Fuerte is small, quiet and charming. Train to the Copper Canyon departed from El Fuerte at 9.00am - later than posted in the schedule. It arrived at Divisadero at 4pm (delayed at the mid-point waiting for the westbound train). More

This place is fabulous...a 400 yr. old spanish fort that has been restored...it is charming, service is excellent and the food is wonderful...didn't want to leave the lush foilage and captivating architecture of this place...very convenient to local cultural shopping ...was able to walk to most tourist sites...just fabulous. More
