Just a lovely place. The food is always great (the Barnsley chop is to die for). Wine and beer great and all the staff so friendly and efficient. Richard the owner has a winning formula and we have been coming here for years. Always our first choice to bring friends too, who also love it. Not actually stayed here but... More

After pre-booking a dining table a week in advance, we thought after looking at the Wheatsheaf Inn website we would be treated to a decent evening meal where we could simply 'dine at the Wheatsheaf' as they describe on their website. We then waited around 10mins for a simple drinks order to be taken, after which each drink then arrived... More

Sad to say, but the food has fallen below expectation again. We've eaten and drank here for many years, but on the last 3 occasions have noticed a decided decrease in the portion size and, from what we can recall, smaller plates. Today's experience will really make us question eating here again. Yes it was Sunday and yes, it was... More

This is a restaurant review - posted here as the only entry is as a hotel. Met a business colleague here for a beer and spot of lunch on Monday 23 January. First impressions were very good, we had a table by the fire and ordered a couple of pints - Tim Taylor Landlord which was very good. We both... More

Food on the expensive side cheeseboard £8. Sat next to a very draughty window ask if we could move away from the window, never been spoken to by anyone so loud and rude, hung coat across the window to keep warm.Good food and warm surroundings are an essential part of a pleasant evening More

Had a lovely lunch my wife and myself. we had 2 smokies but very dissapointed when i asked for 1 more round of bread at a cost of £1.50. It was a bit mean when we had paid £35. I think that this is quite greedy on the management side. More

Always come here for a really nice meal. Try and eat downstairs as upstairs is a little cramped. But I guess a full restaurant is not a bad thing!!! Lovely in the winter with the open fire More

This was our local pub while we lived in the area. Now that we've moved away we still miss it - nothing else seems to come close.... From the approach: lovely setting, attractive building, welcoming ambiance, great beer and the best pub grub we've come by. We recommended this for pub lunch or dinner to all friends and family who... More

Woodhouse Eaves may be getting a bit gentrified, but The Wheatsheaf is a bulwark of old fashioned food, drink and service. There are public rooms that have been done up nicely for eating, but the bar is splendidly old style serving well kept beers and propped up by rugged men, women and dogs. The talk is of horses, hay prices... More
