Rooms on the out dated, tired side, but at that price you really can't complain!! Incredible location, amazing building, and very friendly staff! Didn't do enough exploring, it was literally just an over night stop - would like to go back!

We were blown away on entry as an lovely Real Meaning large easter egg greeted us in the self catering lodge. What a beautiful gesture! Wonderful activities for the children. Friendly staff. Very well equipped lodges. Major disappointment tarnished the break: as a special treat we had booked ahead to have Easter Sunday lunch there, expecting it to be a... More

We stayed in three of the lodges for a family weekend get together. It worked really well for us. The lodges are very well equipped and good value for money. There is a decent sized swimming pool just next to the lodges. The setting in the Wye Valley is wonderful and the grounds are maintained to a very high standard.... More

We stayed two nights in this hotel wanting to explore the Forest of Dean. We had a very nice -recently refurbished - room with a comfortable bed. The room was a bit on the small side but the ceiling being high it didn't feel too small. The hotel stand in a beautiful park and has a very pleasant swimming pool. The... More

We booked a two bedroom lodge on the grounds. There's 5, ours was opposite the indoor pool which is in a large lodge building. Lodge: spotless, warm, cosy & well equipped. Pool: use of towels, large changing area. We swam alone each time, lovely in the evening light. Grounds: very well kept, beautiful. Streams, paths, woods & walks. We even... More

We stayed for two nights, this hotel has stunning views, gardens, swimming pool and games room. My kids loved it! There are lots of local attractions such as puzzlewood which is simply the best kept woods I have seen! The rooms are reasonably decorated and staff helpful.

We stayed for 3 nights on the way home from a wedding in Cardif to do some walking. The hotel is set in a wonderful part of the Wye Valley in outstandingly beautiful grounds. Good food, friendly and helpful staff. The downside was a room which was in need of redecoration and a bed that was past its best. We... More

We were 2 women traveling on business. We booked via booking.com, and were given no warning that set expectations about what this hotel is about before we booked. It's a Christian hotel, full of uniformly very elderly guests, dry, and clean but with very tired and old fashioned decoration. Clearly liked by the mostly very elderly Christians who were in... I've / we've stayed in several of the Christian Guild places - and this is probably the best - although as with all CG hotels the atmosphere and organization of things like meals are a little different. Out rooms were ok - nothing special but not awful. I would like to try one of the wooden lodges. The test for... More

I booked a room for my partner and I via booking.com where there was no mention about the fact that the hotel belonged to the Christian Guild... We were there for a wedding at Clearwell Castle and stayed one night. Our sat nav didn't quite managed the find the hotel but thanks to a local resident we made it! The... More
