After stopping by and looking at a room at the nearby 'ecological village' which was overpriced and uninviting, almost to a depressing degree, Rio Bec Dreams was a most welcome surprise. Our cabin was immaculate and very tastefully decorated. The jungle trail to the bar, office and dining areas felt like we had stepped into an exciting adventure of discovery... More

Once located this was a great find, although we would have preferred a more attentive welcome & pre-arrival service. Having said all that Rick was very knowledgeable of the local area including Calakmal & the other sights in the area. The food was wonderful although once again (like many places in the south of Mexico), no credit or debit cards... More

Rio Bec Dreams is ideally located for those looking to get a bit of history during their time in the Yucatan. There's no denying it's rustic and out-of-the-way, but that's exactly the point, and exactly the charm of the place. Not to sound off-putting, but if you're looking for some posh all-inclusive...what are you doing in Calakmul? We stayed in... More

Rio Bec Dreams sits about 100 yards off the main road running through the Mayan ruins sites across the bottom of the State of Campeche west of Chetumal. The back cabins are far enough off the road that road noise in not an issue. They are comfortable units. The breakfast is very good as is dinner. Interesting guests are here... More

We had the cheapest bungalow in Rio Bec so it was not very big, but it suited us very well. Room was clean, with fine beds. You are in the middle of the jungle though so dont expect anything luxurious(except for the food, which is amazing). Personable staff, with great advice on what to visit. Trip with Rio Bec to... First of all, the whole Rio Bec area is very sparsely populated and there are not many places to stay. We decided on Rio Bec Dreams based on the fact that it was one of the few places with a website and availability during Christmas week. We knew that it was going to be rustic. We got there about sunset... More

The rooms (Jungalows), here were really nice, as were the staff. It's not as close to Calakmul as we had anticipated, but it was probably had the best facilities in the area. The restaurant was tasty and catered to someone with my eating habits (vegan), which was much appreciated. For the beginning of the busy season, it was very quiet... More

We called Rick from Rio Bec a couple of days before heading to Calakmul. Our decision to go basically hinged on two things; whether we were able to find accommodation and whether we could find a tour guide to take us to the ruins. Rick seemed like a lovely guy on the phone and said yes, he had a room... More

Vey welcoming, great staff, well looked after by the beautiful Kate and Lewis. Great restaurant, lovely menu. Enjoyed the lunch box available to take to sites. Unfortunately turned very cold at night so thermals and thick clothes came in useful. Great location for amazing sites, the only drawback near a very noisy main road which is used by Lorries all... We were coming by bus. The owner e-mailed and said the bus drivers know their place and he gave us the names to tell them. What they need to say is, "look for Mile marker 145" and then have the bus stop at the bus stop, which is just past the sign. The bus driver charged us extra anyway, so... More
