We decided to stay at the Trek Stop to save some money and get away from the busy town of San Ignacio. We arrived quite late without a reservation but the cook (who was the only one available due to a family emergency) was very helpful. She did her best to make us feel welcomed and find us a room.... I stayed at Trek Stop as part of an Adventure tour. Two of our group left saying it was not up to their standards. I agree. As a so-called eco-lodge it was to close to the road, traffic noises were very loud. The sitting area was furnished with very dirty plastic chairs. The tiny cabins were clean but I do... More

I spent about a week here in the summer and was affordable, comfortable, beautiful, and well located. We played disc golf on their premises, walked to the store to buy groceries, walked to the ferry to Xunantunich ruins, and took a tour of Actun Tunichil Muknal from The Trek Stop. Some we talked to crossed over to Guatemala for a... More

We decided to stay here to get a bit away from bustling San Ignacio. The units are tiny beautiful things and the food is good. The atmosphere is friendly and the owners (entire family) are great great people. The 5 minute walk to the nearby town (market) is mellow and goes alongside a gorgeous river. You can take the chicken... More

I am a budget traveler and this place was perfect for me. I often travel solo, but I also enjoy meeting other travelers. This place gave me both options: I had privacy in my own simple clean cabin, but I could also meet others at the Trek Stop's delicious outdoor restaurant or at its communal kitchen for guests. A supermarket... More

I stayed 2 nights here as part of my lodgings. The wood shack aka the room has 2 comfie beds in a very small space and a small table fan. Bug repellants are necessary although all the windows have screens but the door doesn't. Wildlife and local insects are all over the place and the bathroom and the shower are... More

The ameneties can be best described as 5 star camping, but everything you could ever need is there. The bed was comfortable, the cabin was clean and bug free, and the shower felt great!! As an added bonus, there is a kitchen on site that you can use to cook your own meals if you desire.....or the restaurant will cook... More

Came here first in Oct 2010 for three weeks of bird photography. Liked the birding so well that I returned for a longer 10 week stay in (may&june) 2011. Be ready to 'rough it' as this is no 100 dollar a day resort. Basic but good. The staff is outstanding, and very helpful. I am an 80 year old man. Have... More

Trek Stop is a reall good place to stay for a day or two but only if you are willing to rough it a bit and step out of your comfort zone! It has outdoor showers powered by rainwater, composting toilets without water and a handful of rustic wooden cabins in the jungle about 10 mins from San Ignacio. It... More

A first for us, and for the Trek Stop. We were asked to leave after one night. For expressing displeasure with receiving inedible food after an hour and a half wait (cold beans, warm potato salad and a cheeseburger with cheese but no burger on rock hard bread). Cute, rustic and cheap. Museum features were lacking or broken, and the... More
