After initially being directed to another Pantanal resort by a travel agent, we checked the trip advisor website which rated Barra Mansa very highly and sent an inquiry to the owner's son, Daniel Rondon, not expecting too much from this automated system. We were impressed by the prompt and comprehensive reply we received the following day from Daniel. His email... More

Family owned pousada in the middle of the Pantanal. Have stayed there twice and really look forward to staying there again. My first time was when it was managed by Guilherme Rondón Sr. and the second time when in the hands of his son Daniel and his lovely wife. Extremely friendly and attentive service. Simple and authentic lodgings. Great tasting... More

We had a wonderful time at Barra Mansa Lodge in December. Very personalised service staying on a remote fazenda in the Pantanal. We were also fortunate to be the only guests at the fazenda at the time. Experiences: We had wonderful tours each day (we could choose whatever we wanted to do) including horse riding and cow-herding, canoing, swimming in... More

We had a great stay at Barra Mansa Lodge, which is a working farm in the heart of the Pantanal and has been owned and run by the same family for several generations. Daniel and Polly really look after their guests, have an excellent command of English and a lovely calm and personal manner. They have a genuine love of... More

Just left after a 5 night stay at Barra Mansa. This was an amazing experience, and after hearing about a few horror stories from other fazendas in the area, was relieved we chose Barra Mansa. The service of the staff is what sets it apart. From the beginning the owners communicated everything (and at very short notice) clearly via email... More

We spent 5 days at Barra Mansa in the Pantanal, enjoying every single moment. Barra Mansa offers simple but very clean and comfortable rooms, really great meal and very nice people. Given the fact that you will not find luxury hotels in the Pantanal Barra Mansa is definitely a great place to stay and see the fantastic nature and wildlife... More

We wanted to cross the pantanal from North to South, arranged with air taxi flying in from Porto Joffre to the airstrip at Barra Mansa Lodge. A truly beautiful, tranquil place. As a working farm the breakfasts included milk, cheese butter and honey all from the farm. Food was excellent as was the personal service and "activities". As a cattle... More

Beautiful old farm with extremely kind and welcoming staff. Endless possibilities for spotting wild life. Best of all: it's possible to join the ranches cowboys in their daily work. Riding (extremely obedient) horses and herding cattle. Fantastic experience! Oh and great caipirinhas.. :)

Our family of four (kids 8 and 14) spent 5 days at Barra Mansa in June --beginning of the dry season. It was an extraordinary stay, and one that we will all remember. This part of the southern Pantanal along the Rio Negro is both gorgeous and unspoiled. During our five days we saw hundreds of birds and animals. We... More

Absolutely loved it. We turned up not knowing very much about the lodge - a travel agent had recommended it - and it turned out to be one of the most welcoming places we have ever been. From the moment we got there we were really looked after, and felt like we were part of the family sharing their home.... More
