If you are coming with your spouse or family, put a few extra dollars and choose a better hotel. But if you are on a budget or traveling alone, this hotel is hard to beat for the value it provides. Don't expect super clean rooms, bed sheets with your own bathrooms, high-speed internet, etc. because you are not gonna get... More

Thank you for your comments. I noticed that you chose one of our rooms with shared washrooms and as you mentioned in your review, they are indeed suited for the budget conscious traveler. This room type does not have all of the amenities of our standard, superior or studio apartments but we usually receive positive comments about their cleanliness and... More

I love visiting Montreal and I've stayed at this hotel about 4 or 5 times now. The location can't be beat if you like being in the centre of things. Right in the shopping centre of town at St Catherines and St. Laurant, Old Montreal is a 15 minute walk downhill, the Latin Quarter is a 15 minute stroll to... More

We are pleased that we are your hotel of choice when in Montreal and we look forward to your next visit in June. The staff think that I should consider hiring you in charge of public relations; they are kidding but needless to say that they truly appreciated your perspective and comments. Our studios have recently been renovated and I... More

Just returned from staying two nights at this hotel. It was clean, newly renovated, nice hardware flooring (no, old icky carpet here). I felt safe and I did not find it noisy at all. Staff was very nice and helpful. This hotel is within walking distance to tons of shopping, nice restaurants, etc. etc. They do not provide parking but... More

Thank you for your detailed review for our tripadvisor clients. Most of our rooms have recently been renovated and we pride ourselves of the wood floors and exposed brick walls. I am pleased that you appreciated the service and the cleanliness of our rooms. Being a historic building, there are numerous stairs but as you mentioned in your review, if... More

We stayed here as we got a groupon-type deal for the room. At the deal price, it was good however I would not pay full price to stay here. The hotel has 2 names which made it somewhat difficult to find (we learned from a cab driver to call the hotel Abri du Voyageur even though the deal was for... More

Hotel Abri du Voyageur and Hotel Quartier des Spectacles are two hotels in two separate buildings linked by a common entrance and reception. I am pleased that you appreciated the cleanliness of our hotel, as well as our welcoming staff. In regards to the mattress, they are new and of high quality; though I realize that every client has a... More

We stayed there a couple of nights and felt very comfortable. Staff is really kind and helpful, the place is supercool in the middle of the most lively neighborhood in Montreal. It doesn't look so appealing from the outside, specially with a long staircase at the entrance but in fact its worth the short hassle as you arrive at a... More

We purchased a dealfind group voucher and  had no issue using it. We booked our private double room a year in advance and got a emailed confirmation.  Check in was a breeze and we got our breakfast vouchers. This hotel is a brilliant find, it has to be the best value in Montreal you are 15 mins walk from all attractions. Very clean and friendly. Be warned it is above a sex shop, but this is really not an issue, there is no lift so you have to carry all luggage upstairs. But apart from this we found... More

i'm generally quite picky about hotel clenliness, but I could not place a fault! I had a single room on the 2nd floor with a shared bathroom and everything was always spotless. The room was facing the street, you could hear cars on the road at night, but it was bearable. The size of the room was fine, and well... More

In the Quartier des Spectacles, the theater district, this hotel is excellent. It has very nice rooms with impressive woodwork. Be ready for a $50 taxi ride from the airport. But it costs only $10 to take a cab to the Gare Centrale RR station.

I am pleased that you appreciated our excellent rates. We have great rates year round and many sites have recognized the good value for a downtown hotel. For your information, taxi driver's are supposed to charge a fixed rate of $40 from airport to any downtown location. Another option is the Express Bus 747 leaving the airport every few minutes... Dating back to 1876, Abri du Voyageur Hotel has been renovated in keeping with its historical character. High ceilings, bare brick walls, maple-wood floors, continental doors are reminiscent of the past and give our hotel a unique personality. Each hotel is in a separate building linked by a common lobby and reception. A single entry serves both hotels in a 4 storey centennial building. All our rooms and studios are equipped with an air-conditioner and cable television.
