I always love staying in university dorms when travelling in the summer since they're always very reasonable. My stay at Risley hall was no exception. Nice and new looking, everything that could be expected for a reasonable price. Parking was avaliable right outside. The neighbourhood is good. No wifi (although you can go to the library to use a computer), good... More

Risley Hall single dorm room contained a single bed, small desk, washbasin, cupboard and free WiFi. Staff was very friendly, the dorm was quiet and the shower facilities were spotless. The location is somewhat far from Downtown, impersonal and not the place to stay if you want to meet other people. No breakfast available. More

I wanted a clean, simple, reasonably priced lodging for l night! After reading all the reviews here on Trip Advisor I decided to find out for myself how bad or how good these dorm rooms could be!!!! Well to my pleasure I found the front desk young staff respectful and helpful (they offered me a fan as I forgot one).... More

Stayed at Dal at the beginning and end of our holiday. The first time we were put up at Risley Hall, which was a very decent experience given the location and price. The second time we were at Howe Hall: a noisy, dingy, frat-house environment. No one slept a wink. Believe the other reviews below - they tell the truth!... More

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights at Howe Hall(Henderson House) to explore the University and Halifax. Room was dismal - cracked wood paneling above the bed, could use paint before summer rentals. Would NEVER pay the $6000 res fee for my daughter to live there while attending university (wouldn't let here stay there for free for that matter).... More

Piece of advice, if you have the chance to stay somewhere else, do so. You might save money by staying here but in mu opinion, it's not worth it. It isn't all bad, free wireless internet, sink in your room desk and a closet (that's about it for the good stuff) (I stayed at Fontaine Hall). Now the bad; the... More

I had trekked around NZ on bus with musician friends and stayed at campground/hostel facilities for over a month so this was heaven. Clean, safe, decent neighborhood, the harbor-gardens-shopping-churches-eateries-banks-citadel and museums within walking distance or on busline. Shuttle comes in from airport. Student staff helpful, Elevators and private bathroom/shower rooms down the hall. Bed comfortable, easy to keep clean, do... More

I went to Tall Ships Halifax, which unfortunately was the same weekend as a Kiss concert, and every room in Halifax under $200 was booked. I managed to find a last-minute vacancy at Dalhousie's Howe Hall. The student staff were nice and it was biking distance from the waterfront which was what I wanted. Day 1: The room was stifling... Now, I booked a room in what I assumed was Howe Hall. Instead I was given a room in an adjacent building called Studley Hall... it is in extremely rough shape. Bathrooms are filthy, rooms are no better. Fluorescent, office-style lighting everywhere, makes it feel like a stanley kubrick movie. It was ridiculously hot out and the windows didn't open... More

We stayed at Fenwick place, and paid extra for an apartment, so we could do some of our own meals. It was hard to do when we walked into a bare apartment. It had basic furniture, and that is it. We had to request a phone, then we had to request some dishes, which we were told came with rental.... More
