We attended a New year's Eve dance package there in 2007 and the dance was o.k., the food was o.k. and the room was VERY BAD! This cost us $175 for the package. The next year we returned, it cost more...the room smelled like bleach, the pillows were shredded and our friend had RED WATER in their room toilet. The... More

We chose this hotel for the price. My expectations where very, very low. The room was clean, somewhat on the small size but we only stayed for one night. There had obviously been some renovations. The bathroom had new fixtures and tile, it looked like it still needed to be painted but it was fine. The drapes did not close which... More

We were having a difficult time finding a room in Sydney--we later found out an Elton John concert was in town the following night--our choices were a smoking room at a moderately priced chain hotel, or a room at an extremely expensive hotel. When we drove up to the Martin Arms I did not expect to stay...the advertised price on... More

My husband and I got away without the kids for a weekend and wanted to somewhere we still had money left to have fun. The location was great, very central and a beautiful park or the waterfront boardwalk were only a few minutes walk away. The room was very clean and we found the staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant... More

My family & I had stayed at the Martin Arms twice this month. Our first trip was for 3 days.... our room never got cleaned and beds weren't made up during our stay. The staff was rude as well. Our second trip was repulsive.... we were completely disrespected by staff, infront of other clients. The staff was ignorant, rude and... More

2 of my friends and I got a double non-smoking room. The Pros: -Very clean room -Bathroom was BRAND new with a lovely deep tub -The location is very central The Cons: -Our beds were rock hard -Housekeeping knocked on our door at 9 AM both Saturday and Sunday... I suppose sleeping in is not allowed? -They would not honor... More

Rooms were dated but in good repair and very clean.I was very glad to see that they had replaced the carpetting with hardwood floors and bathroom fixtures are all updated. My wife and I go for a gettaway about once a month and had decided to try The Martin Arms this trip and we were quite pleased. More

We ended up here because they accept debit and I recently got rid of my credit cards. We asked for a double room, preferably non-smoking and got a single smoking. After nearly projectile vomiting from the stench, we managed to get a non-smoking double. That room stank only moderately. The room looked like something out of a cheap 70s b... More

The website for this "Hotel" makes it appealing and a pleasurable place to stay with a reasonable rate. Such things as "Complementary juice and muffins", "Satellite Tv" and "free high speed Wi-Fi" are a joke! The "juice" was more like Tang (just add water), the muffins were dry, burnt and disgusting, the "satellite tv" was basic cable and High Speed... More

When you are wanting to stay in Sydney during Celtic Colours and don't want to spend much, your choices are few, so we booked the Martin Arms in spite of the reviews. The location is great. We will not be back. As others have said the stale smoke musty smell pervades the lobby and the hallways. Our room on the... More
