We arrived on a very chilly long weekend in May to a lovely, warm reception and a cozy, rustic retreat. Our room in the lodge had a lovely view of the ocean, over the salt pond and the yurt! My husband and I both enjoyed the morning meditation, and the healthy comfort food was especially welcome. Sitting out on the... More

Took the kids to Cabot Shores for March Break. Decided to break the kids from their various devices. No iPads. No iPods. No DVD player. They thought the world would end. Once we arrived, they didn't even notice. We went exploring right away, and they tuckered themselves out running over the snow. The ocean was a sea of ice, which... More

What a pleasure it was to stay here. The vegetarian/vegan food was amazing. The property was beautiful. Dr. Paul and Barbara were so accommodating right from the start, and made us feel at home right away (I joined them for morning meditation in the main lodge). We explored the property (and beyond) on snowshoes and was blown away by the... More

We were blessed to find this special place, right here in Cape Breton..... in February ! Fifty of us encamped the cabins and main lodge for a family birthday party, and were delighted to spend a few hours cross country skiing and snowshoeing on a beautiful beach approach, with tons of snow ! The main lodge has a huge room,... More

Excellent Vegan food, nice location, great spot to camp and really nice people! Definately plan on going back. The location is great if you enjoy a relaxed natural environment. We especially enjoyed the pizza made in the outdoor pizza oven.

Recently, my boyfriend and I visited Cabot Shores for the second time and we had a fantastic experience. Barbara and Dr. Paul are so nice and offer excellent hospitality. On this trip I also tried snow shoeing for the first time ever and Dr. Paul and Barbara were more than willing to teach me how to do it. We went... More

As I type this, I am currently on my way back to Cabot shores after visiting them last weekend with a large group of Dalhousie students. Dr. Paul sought to meet every need we had and the chalets we booked were even better than expected! Perfectly cozy and suited for a weekend away. We used the weekend to visit local... More

My recent stay at Cabot Shores in Oct. 2012 was a perfect combination of adventure, learning, and new friendships. Our hosts Paul & Barbara made sure each minute of the day was filled with a new & interesting experience. From hiking, birding, beach walks, kayaking, interacting with the Mi'kmaq culture and Gaelic community, & enjoying the Celtic music festival, each... More

Nancy, Thanks very much for your kind review - we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you both and also to provide you with the vegan meals. We know that it's difficult to get vegan meals in restaurants on this island and we love being able to fulfill this niche. As you know you got some of our last greens from the garden... More

I couldn't have been happier with my stay at Cabot Shores in mid-October of 2012. The owners, Paul and Barbara were the best hosts ever. They helped with logistics, transportation and activity planning. The Cabot Shores property is located on the coast of Cape Breton Island and consists of 55 acres of forest, grasslands, with the scenic Indian Brook edging... More

We appreciate your kind review, Bonnie. We're happy you enjoyed your active stay with us so much! I wanted to respond to a couple of the things you mentioned. We know our location is a bit remote - actually, that's the idea: unplugging from one's usual life - so we do assist our guests with travel logistics, be it by... More
