My daughter and I stayed one night during our Mom/Daughter trip around the Cabot Trail. Unfortunately, we did not get to experience the sunset because of poor weather, I can imagine they are amazing. The room was functional and clean with a small kitchen. The location is perfect just off the Trail. It is close to Meat Cove, which is... More

This motel is a very nice place to get away and relax, without being worried about distractions. The sunsets are well worth the trip! The weather was cooperative and for the few nights we spent, we were able to get some great pictures of the spectacular views. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Though we did need to pick... Room was clean, couch was not comfortable to sit on. The room does have a kitchenette with basic dishes. Only one channel on TV. They have VHS movies in the office for you to watch. No restaurants near by and the grocery store closes at 5 pm in October, so plan a meal in advance or drive 20 minutes back... More

My husband and I spent two nights at Burton's Sunset Oasis Motel and were glad we decided to venture off the Cabot Trail. It is such a beautiful and quiet spot with an amazing view of the sunset each night. There is plenty in this area to see and do as well. We drove out to Meat Cove and spent... More

This was a basic motel room with a great view that we called in the afternoon to reserve a room, since it was getting late and we needed a place to stay. This was the only place in the area so we took it. The price was $125 for one night, with no breakfast, not even coffee. Touring the Maritimes... More

What a wonderful location and charming hosts. The scenery will make your jaw hurt from dropping so much. The facilities are immaculate and welcoming. If you get a chance, stroll down their street to the bay, it is an amazing place for photos. The sunsets will blow your mind! The cooking facilities in each unit are perfect as is the... More

The drive to the tip of Cape Breton is scenic, the village of Bay St Lawrence is quaint. The harbour and coastline are worth the drive and are definitely of postcard picture calibre. Burton's, the one and only motel is roomy, fully kitchen equipped, clean, basic, hard bedded and dated. But remember, this is the very, VERY tip of Cape... More

No doubt the location of this motel was fantastic, incredible views of the rugged coastline and ocean. The owner was warm and welcoming, but the room was worn and dated, hard beds, tv hardly worked (one channel), showers were lukewarm at best, no breakfast provided at the motel, and breakfast recommended at the Community Center a mile or two away... If you want a real authentic Cape Breton trip - this is a must to stay at -- the folks are really nice - the hotel is not really fancy but it is clean and very well kept- the hospitality rocks and the view and setting are spectacular-- I would recommend this and will certainly go again. We were there... More

I struggle with whether to give BSOM a 3 or a 4 and have settled on a 3. The proprietor is a friendly woman who will greet you and set you up in your room. Because there is only one tv channel, she has a great selection of old movies and VCRs in every room. We selected Cliffhanger - which... More
