"Had" to stay here for 1 night as Nanaimo seemed to be completey sold out that night due to an upcoming event. Got the, probably, last or "spare" room of the hotel being located at the lower level at the very end facing directly some stairs (so only could use artificial light). As walls are paper thin, you can hear... More

Chose this hotel for same reason as last time - close to sea walk and harbour and reasonably priced. Stayed for 2 nights. The bathroom looked as if it was upgraded compared to previous trip and the bed was comfortable. We didn't use the outdoor pool but a number of people were enjoying it. More

Definitely aging, however the price reflected that. We were looking for a place to sleep, near an event we were attending, so it was fine. More

We stayed at this HoJo due to its reasonable price. What we didn't know was there was a MMa event and Saturdays are "party nights" according to the front desk clerk at 6:30am as we checked out on the way to the airport!! The daytime partying is /was not a issue. The partying that began at 11:30 at night and... More

Stayed at the HoJo last June with a minor softball team. This hotel is NOT appropriate for any children or young adults! While the rooms wer acceptable, the other guests were not. There were drunks wandering the halls and trying to open teh doors of rooms belonging to our group. The smell of marijuana coming from several rooms was overpowering.... More

I checked the tripadvisor reviews after I made my reservations and I was a little worried, but it was fine. No, it wasn't a deluxe stay that's for sure, but for $89/night I wasn't expecting it to be a 5-star property. I think it was good value for the money. The room was clean, the bed was pretty comfortable and everything... More

You get what you pay for but with a little extra effort and minimal cost, the hotel could be improved. The bathroom needed work to remove black mould from around the bath tub. However, in general the rooms were clean and everything worked. It is adjacent to the seafront and Millstone Creek walkways which provided a pleasant way to get... More

This place was a time machine. I walked into the lobby in 2009 and was taken promptly back to the 1980s!! Dated, tired and overall a bit cheesey. The room was clean and very spacious and if you like 80s decor then you'll love the furnishings. The bed was lumpy but comfortable enough and the room was well equipped with... More

First, I have to say that the staff were pleasant, and I feel badly for them that they have to work in such a place. I actually didn't end up staying there ... I walked in, and walked back out 5 minutes later. I arrived at the Howard Johnson, after my cab ride from the Nanaimo airport. The cab driver... More

Now I don't know what the upper suites are like but I was put in a lower suite as there are only two floors. I had to drag my large suitcase down the stairs myself as there was no elevator. The hallways made me think "institution" and when I opened the door and looked around I felt like I wanted... More
