This was my first time in Barkerville and I loved it. Just to add to the experience, I booked a night at the St. George. We had a great time spending the evening on the shared porch at the front of the property. We had the room in back with its own private washroom which was great. I got exactly... More

A large group of us stayed here for a night. Lady in charge gave us the impression that we were a nusiance and an inconvience to her.... Breakfast was ok. My omelette was suposed to have feta cheese - none in there, a friend order the same and got a piece smaller then her baby finger nail. One girlfriend wanted... More

We overnighted in Barkerville as part of a tour through Northern BC. The St. George was our first choice since we wanted to stay in the town itself (not realizing that there were two other B&B's actually in Barkerville itself). I found the hotel quaint and quite interesting. We stayed in room 7 at the back and were very comfortable... More

An average hotel, at best. Very handicap unfriendly. Staff were rigid and not very friendly. Rooms are very small and when forced to share washroom facilities, did not appreciate cold water shower at 7:00am. The seating arrangements at breakfast are not sufficient, forcing you to wait up to an hour to get a seat. If you are travelling with another... More

We stayed for two nights at the Saint George and couldn't imagine experiencing Barkerville without staying here. One really does feel transported back in time. The rooms are small but clean. There are no TV's which is great. To my surprise, however, there was Wifi. We loved the balcony on the second floor where you could sit and watch the... More

Our stay at the St. George Hotel in Historic Barkerville totally made our trip the best. Our trip to Caribou County was specifically to visit Barkerville so we spent 2 nights in Barkerville at the St. George Hotel. We had booked three rooms (Rooms 5, 6 and 7) at the back of the hotel (There are only 7 rooms in... More

Stayed in thid hotel which is located in a small town that is depicting time as it was about 100 years ago. Hotel originally built in 1862. NO amenities as it is run old style. Room was small (as expected) with no TV and WiFi (hoe did we exist). Breakfast is served with your order taken the night before and... More

We spent 3 weeks travelling around Canada in June 2012 and I can honestly say that our 3 night stay at Barkerville was an experience I would never want to have missed. Saya who is the owner of the hotel is a bit scarey at first - be warned, take off your shoes when you go in! The hotel was... More

My sisters and I stayed here in September 2011 for two nights. At first we were put off by Saya, the lady who runs the hotel. She seemed unfriendly and uptight and we instantly felt unwelcome. The hotel is decorated beautifully and Sayas costumes are amazing. She sews them herself. You really do get the feeling of being transported back... More

It is true that when the ladies arrived there was a protracted moment of confusion which led to awkwardness, and I didn’t recover the moment quickly enough. For this I felt terrible, but we got on well despite our false start. It is always my intention to make every guest feel welcome and hope that their stay at the St.... More

On my first visit to Barkerville I promised myself a return trip of more than one day. Barkerville is a jewel of a preserved town with a seasonal population of dedicated historians who take on roles from clergymen to bakers. We stayed in the St George Hotel and were transported back in time. The landlady, Saya, is straight from the... More
