We (four of us) stayed here for a total of four nights -- two different cabins on two different stays. The staff is wonderful -- warm, friendly, very helpful. This is a great central, jumping-off location for visiting both Banff and Lake Louise environs. There is a small general store for immediate needs, and you are only 25 minutes from... more

We went on a hiking get-away in the middle of June and were looking for accommodation where we could cook our own meals. After checking various Banff and Lake Louise area hotels and cabin resort websites and the reviews here at TripAdvisor, we decided on Castle Mountain Chalets. In looking over their website, I noticed a "one bedroom suite" listed... more

One word - perfect. We had been staying in hotels so when we arrived we knew this is what we expected Canada to be like. Clean, romantic, cozy, just wonderful - wasn't there long enough could have stayed forever. The odd train passing but not a problem in fact we went and had a look as it was pretty long... more

A wonderful oasis just outside of the Banff village. 25 mins. by car. Friendly staff, clean rooms. Great for biking along 1A, or driving and strolling. 1 km off Hwy 1. We observed Black Bear with 2 cubs, and small herd of Elk and nesting Osprey along river during our 2 day stay. Not flashy, but extremly comfortable and peacfull.... more

This was by far the worst place I have ever stayed. Who would have thought it sensible to put lovely chalets by a railway? My husband and I went there for our honeymoon and lasted one night. We were woken over 6 times throughout the night with the trains sounds their horns. I think we averaged 2 hours of sleep... more

The location of Castle Mountain Chalets is truly unique. The chalets have been here since the late 1930’s and the trains even longer. The name Banff actually originates from Banffshire, Scotland, the birthplace of two major financiers of the Canadian Pacific Railway; so as you see the railway has been a very important part of Banff National Park for many...

Area: The CMC is located next to the Castle Mountain and between highway 1 and A1. There is nothing around the CMC for many kilometres except beautiful nature. The train track is app 100 metres away and the sound of train horns is really as loud as other people have written. It didn't bother us that much - on the... more

Just stayed for a long weekend with my husband, mom, and my two labrador dogs. I had never stayed in a pet friendly hotel before, so I wondered about the standards, but I was amazed! I stayed in a two bedroom cottage, the rooms were very spacious, the bathroom had lovely soaps, shampoo, conditioner, everything you find in a luxury... more

We had a wonderful week that even included our dog. The Chalets are private, quiet (other than the proximity to the busy rail track) and comfortable. There are mountains to hike, trails to explore as well as Lake Louise and Banff nearby. The staff are welcoming and provide great service. It feels like home without the stesses of the city.... more

We spent our first anniversary at the Castle Mountain Chalets and were given a bottle of wine at check-in to toast the occassion. The desk/store staff were very friendly throughout our stay, but I did have to ask three times to get the gas card that was part of our deal. We booked only 2 weeks in advance, so we... more

From March 19 to 22, 2009 - our group of 10 decided we needed to getaway from the big city and just go for some rest and relaxation. Well we got it!!! Castle Mountain Chalets was located centrally between Banff and Lake Louise and we just like the idea of not being where hustle and bustle was. We did some... more
