We stayed here for two nights while visiting the Royal Windsor Horse Show. We have known the pub/restaurant over many years and were looking forward to staying under the new management and having changed its name form The Cottage Inn to The Winning Post. It is in a beautiful rural setting although the village has been gentrified from its earlier... More

I've visited this place for years, I've talked it up for the same amount of time to others. I've taken incredible amounts of people there and then after a year away and talking it up to my girlfriend I thought I'd bring her for lunch. I called last month and when I'd heard they were closed for renovations that should... More

It was ok. What was disappointing was that the cottage felt special, like somewhere you would go on birthdays, anniversaries etc. Now it just feels like you're in a bel and dragon or a chef and brewer. Formulaic decoration and menu, except you're paying £30 per head plus drinks. There was nothing really wrong with it, just underwhelming. Staff were... More

The refurbishment is now finished and what a fantastic little watering hole. It has now changed its name to The Winning Post. The menu is not large but what they do, they do well. A good wine list, very helpful staff who work hard under the nothing is too much trouble attitude of Nick, the manager. Good choice of real ales... More

One of the things I look forward to most while away is a lie in. I get up at 5.30 every morning for work, so it is nice to be able to sleep in. I was told when I booked that there were refurbishments taking place in the restaurant while I was staying in the hotel, but decided to take... More

Booked well in advance for Sunday Lunch on recommendation. Table very cramped for 4 pax, although larger tables were available, we were not offered these. Good menu and staff attentive. Sunday roast was not served with roast potatoes which was strange, only new potatoes and a very average and tasteless 'pot' potato dish together with what very much appeared to... More

We held a surprise birthday lunch for my mother in laws 70th at The Cottage Inn yesterday. This is a restaurant that we have visited several times previously when in the area, and always enjoyed. I saw on the web site that the restaurant had a small function room, and thought it would be ideal for a small party. I... More

This a traditional pub with real ale from the barrel and some really nice food served by waitresses who care. They have very nice rooms to the rear with good en suite and flat screen TV in the bedroom. They dont cook a breakfast but you do have a fridge in your room which contains a nice continental breakfast of... More
