We were touring the Bajio region of Mexico and arrived in San Miguel de Allende by car from Querétaro. The tourist office in the main plaza located the vacancies for us. My wife and I chose a junior suite which was exquisite and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. When I enquired about making a reservation for later in the... more

The bloom is off. Villa Jacaranda is in desperate need of a facelift. There is no valet parking. While I was double-parked in the street at the entrance, the desk clerk was more concerned about handing over guidebooks to San Miguel de Allende than having someone tend to my vehicle. The wireless Internet in the common areas, as promised, didn't... more

We had a very comfortable suite, clean, with good heating during an unseasonable rainy January week, after an absymally chilly experience at the deluxe Casa Linda. The dining room is cheerful and cozy, very attentive service, varied menu. Outstanding hot buffet breakfasts. Nicely located on an inclined street, easily walkable for seniors, 5-10 minutes to main boutique & restaurant streets,... more

We just returned from a 7 day stay at Villa Jacaranda. It is a lovely, quaint hotel, well located close to the Jardin. The restaurant serves wonderful food, and the hotel staff is exceptionally friendly. I would stay there again for an future trips back to San Miguel. more

We stayed at Villa Jacaranda with several other couples in December, 2004, and thought the hotel was very nice. Granted, it is in an historic (1800s) building, so everything is not shiny and new, but the people were very nice, our mini-suite was lovely with a balcony overlooking the front of the hotel, and the little bar was nice and... more

On the recommendation of Karen Brown, my friend and I booked this hotel for 6 nights. After the first night, we felt that it was not a good value. Although, the hotel restaurant and patio is pretty, the room we had seemed to have been a converted storage area....it was not worth the $$$. We found a much better hotel,... more

We stayed at this hotel at Easter (2004). The $125/night price quoted over the phone turned into about $175/night at checkout after the administration added 25% for a child over 12 and then added the 17% taxes on top of the whole thing. At that rate, the hotel was definitely overpriced. On the plus side, the location is good and... more

Warning to all going to San Miguel in the winter: Bring a warm sweater and even your mittens, because it gets cold at night. We loved Villa Jacaronda because of electric blankets and a gas heater in our room. The breakfast buffet consists of at least 6 hot dishes plus fresh fruit and juice and this hearty breakfast kept us... more

The Villa Jacaranda is perfectly located - close to the Parroquia, but down a quiet street that feels very removed from the activity around the zocalo. Most of the accomodations are in small buildings scattered around the grounds, with private or semi-private patios. Of the rooms that we saw, the only ones I would not recommend are the ones in... more
