I had been staying alone in a local low-budget hostel when I got really, really sick. I asked the staff to bring me to a place with a private bathroom, and by luck and chance they brought me to Don Diego de la Selva. The next few days, Thomas (at the front desk) checked on me periodically, brought me medicine... more
We fell in love with this hotel as soon as we saw it. The bungalows are set in a lushious garden, with iguanas sitting around and flowers all over. Meals (French - Mexican ) are served on a gorgeous patio, where you can also lay around and relax in the hammocks; you really feel at home and the staff is... more
If you are staying in the city7 of Tulum, Don Diego de la Selva is an excellent choice. Run by French people, youbreceive an excellent service, delicious breakfast included in the price (fresh fruit juice, fruits salade and bread + jam). The cabanas are really all very well kept, clean, and with a lot of charming details. The restaurant, is... more
This hotel has lovely gardens with hammocks...a little oasis of tranquility from which to explore a vibrant town. If you have a car, you can easily stay here at night and spend the day at the beach location for the best of both worlds. A hammock in the room made a great diversion for the children, as did the swan... more
When choosing our vacation destination my adult daughter and I had only a few requirements - close to Mayan ruins, close to cenotes, close to biosphere, off the beaten path, in the "real" Mexico (read: "NOT Cancun"), not running over with the typical tourist frou-frou. Don Diego was PERFECT for us. The hotel is clean, small, and quiet -(don't let... more
This is a very attractive hotel with beautiful decor and gardens. The rooms were clean and simple with traditional touches and a great skylight in the bathroom. We had our own porch and hammock and the pool and restaurant just steps away. The owners of this hotel were very nice and accommodating as well as their staff. Sadly the weather... more
I stayed here with my two sons, 8 and 15. We stayed in a thatch roof 'cabin' (I forget what it was called) in their town location. They also have a location on the beach with more rustic accommodation. The room was spacious and comfortable with a private bath and ceiling fan. My kids were a little taken aback at... more
We stayed at don diego de la selva for 4 nights in a bungalow with no A|C. For us it was absolutely perfect.... The staff is very nice (merci beaucoup Jean-Charles, Gabriella et Charles) . The food is exquisite, especially the steak marinated in papaya juice. Of course it is a little more expensive than what you would pay at... more
Don Diego de la Selva, which is Zorro of the forest (Don Diego was Zorro's real name). We stayed at the Tulum Village 10 room hotel, not at their beach location (Don Diego de la Playa). We loved the rooms and the feel of being surrounded in our own private garden. Each room has its own patio. We ate at... more
