Beautiful, manmade environment - if that's what you like, you'll enjoy this place. Great little snorkeling outlet right on the resort with lots of fish, perfect for little kids - safe and fun. However we enjoy authenticity, connecting with locals, and being in Mexico so this resort doesn't strike our fancy plus the coffee is dreadful. So not for us. More

Not as good as last year. Animal exhibits have been removed. Maintenance is slipping (hotel is showing it's age). Beware of free internet deal. (Nothing but a con). We never did get our bonus time. Stayed at the Occidental Grand Xcaret resort from Jan. 28th thru Feb. 4th with my boyfriend. We vacationed in Playa del Carmen last year, and stayed at Blue Bay Grand Esmerleda. I have to admit that the Occidental property had less of a WOW factor and was a bit more dated, but it was kept up nicely for its age.... More
