Not only is the beach the best in Playa, but the staff at Las Palapas is exceptional. Front desk staff is very knowledgable and recommended some great "authentic" mexican restaraunts. We just got back from 6 nights at Las Palapas and found the hotel fantastic. Yes there was music some days between 2-7 but not on Sundays and Mondays. After reading nice reviews and looking at a pleasant website, we were very surprised to find a crowded beach with rental beach chairs for the public, a large party scene, a shady/cold pool, and not to mention the large club next door that blasts outdoor music all afternoon. The hotel overall is a great, maybe the best option to stay while in Playa del Carmen. The location - off the really crowded town and beach area but still within walking distance to everything.
