We stayed at this facility last year after the hurricane. We agreed with the reviews we found on this site at the time. We paid $60/night and that included breakfast. This year the place was in worse shape than last year after the hurricane! The pool was dirty. We had standing water in the bathroom from leaks in the plumbing... more

I stayed at the hotel back in February con mis companeros de mi escuela. We went on a school trip with our Spanish class down there. The first hotel that we stayed at was terrible. It was so run down and horrible that our teachers moved us. We moved all our luggage over to the Perla Del Caribe and I... more

Although the hotel bathroom was small and the rusted water heater was visible, I thought the hotel was great. The bartender Luis played dominoes with my kids in the evenings, and arranged for anything we needed:snorkling, diving, boat trips. Isla is all about the kickbacks, but who cares when someone comes to pick you up at your hotel and take... more

My husband I have just returned from the island. We stayed at the Perla del Caribe with Pedrio who was very wonderful and kind. The hotel is clean and just getting back together after the hurricane so it only has about 25 rooms ready. This hotel is not a five star hotel, but diffently a three. We have been to... more

We knew very little about this hotel before we arrived thus had some concerns but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was quite centrally located, had great ocean views and a nice balcony where I sat in the sun in the early AM looking out over the "azul" ocean. It was not fancy, but clean and quiet - and a... more

We got off the ferry about sunset, and, lugging our stuff, headed to the Hotel Belmar, where I had a confirmed reservation. So much for confirmed! No room, and it's the middle of spring break! The guy at the front desk said something about a computer crash, and proceeded to arrange an alternate room. He actually escorted me there--The Mar... more

Stayed here in March, 2005. We did not have a reservation and got a walk-up rate of $55 per night. The room was clean with a/c, 2 double beds and a bathroom. Not luxury by any means, but a good place to rest for the night. The view of the Caribbean from the balcony was spectacular. I would definitely stay... more

The Mar Azul wasn't bad. We stayed here a week in February of 2005. I think we paid around $67 per night and stayed for 3 nights. The ocean view is nice, but it's not a comfortable enough room that you really want to hang out at the hotel much to enjoy it. The beds are box springs on top... more

I love the Perla del Caribe. I have been going to Isla Mujeres for years and found this gem during my first visit. The Perla is in the best location to downtown and is on the "windy side" of the island. With each room having it's own balcony and and first class view to the sunrise off the ocean every... more

my husband and I stayed at the Mar Azul in Feb 2003. It was pretty clean and had a geat view. The hotel is under renovations and we had some problems with the plumbing, but for $40 a night it was within reason. I think if they finish the remodel it will be a very nice hotel. more
