My five year olds loved the grounds. They did not swim in the pools as it was unseasonably cool for late December, but loved running raround on the grounds. The Mayaland is a lovely hotel on beautiful grounds just outside the back entrance to the ruins. If you stay overnight, you simply cannot beat the location. The staff was very professional and welcoming, in particular the bartender at the little bar outside the entrance. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We stayed in bungalow Percival, room 5A. Pool right outside the door, ruins a 5 min walk, dinner in the restaurant was well done. Definitely the best way to visit Chichen Itza. Don't bother with the light show (wasn't that great), do hire a private guide to take you around the ruins. Do that first thing in the morning before... More
