It may be a fine place once you get in, but I did not make it that far. I had booked on-line, which required a deposit. The day before my arrival, I got a call from them saying my room had been "taken out of service" (very questionable, given it was a very busy weekend when rooms were hard to... More

The best thing I can say about Le Reja is the location is great. The rooms are small, noise travels well between rooms, and there's a lot of ambient noise. Avoid a room on the first floor as they open right into the courtyard restuarant. Few of the staff speak any English although they all tried to be helpful.

It is very difficult to communicate with the staff at this charming property. As long as you are fluent in Spanish it is fine.

There's no hint outside about how beautiful this place is. The gardens are so refreshing. Big, clean rooms. Kind personnel. Interesting furniture. Steaming hot water and huge towels. Internet, TV. A shame we had to leave early and know nothing about the breakfast.

We spent 4 nights here over day of the dead in November - and couldn't recommend this place more highly! The location, one block off the walking street and one block from Santa Domingo, was superb. The rooms were lovely (doubles are more spacious, and upstairs rooms have more natural light), no problems with the wifi, the meals we ate... More

I stayed for four nights in August at this lovely little hotel and found it faultless. I had a double room upstairs, with access to a small, pretty terrace with rooftop views over sections of central Oaxaca. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room stylishly decorated, with pretty locally woven cotton bedspread. The bathroom had an excellent shower, with... More

The relatively low number of reviews of La Reja here probably reflects its small size, with only 6 rooms. The absence of negative reviews and the high overall ratings indeed reflected our experience in mid-April 2010. The best thing about La Reja is its location -- it's on the block in between the very expensive Camino Real, and Santo Domingo,... More

Oaxaca is a wonderful city but currently undergoing a massive road reconstruction in the historic center, which makes walking difficult, dirty and traffic on the open streets often paralyzed. Check the location of your hotel! (the one I stayed in last time was virtually inaccessible and should have been closed). This is NOT true of La Reja. Let me repeat:... More

I stayed in La Reja for over a month while in a business trip. At the end of my stay, I found myself not only moving around the kitchen as if in my house, buying tamales from the woman who sits outside the door every night (a well known Ms. Carmen) and almost crying when it came to say good... We stayed at la Reja recently after being recommended by a friend. It is very conveniently located and comfortable. Rooms simple but beautiful with an enchanting and cool terrace. We have been delighted with the homely , detailed care we received when my daughter fell ill and had to go to hospital, the lovely hotel manageress personally brought her things... More
