We love the Hotel Frances -- the hotel is now over 400 years old, and reminds me of hotels in Europe. The room rate is about $60.00/night. We have stayed at the Frances several times over the past 10-15 years. This past winter, we took 7 other people with us, and all said they would definitely return to the Frances.... More

This hotel rocks! Its half a block from the cathedral and dates from 1610. Its been totally refurbished so its clean and modern yet has an incredible sense of history with tall ceilings, art, and craftmanship details. Plus its a great value at ~$70/night. Very clean and safe. More

Other than its location, anyone giving this hotel a good review is completely out of their mind. Sure, at first the entrance and the fountain make this hotel charming... But once you see your room, you want to run! If you intend to rest during your stay, you can forget about that at the Hotel Frances. Any room overlooking the... More

A Charming, quaint anf historic ( first hotel in the Americas) place, Steps away from the historic core including the cathedral. Rooms are Ok, good value for the price, drawback is climbing the stairs, or optional, sometimes out of service and outdated elevator. The Hotel's restaurant is not the best, better trying some the plenty to choose from venues closeby.... More

A most beautiful colonial style hotel which was extremely badly renovated in 2000. We asked to see 6 rooms before deciding to stay in the room - on the roof - which had originally been allocated to us. The hotel is outdoubtedly used as a knocking shop. The staff were aloof and unhelpful and when we had a flood in... More

A much-hyped renovation in about 2000 undermines the historical aesthetics of Hotel Frances, with plastic drop ceilings inside the bathrooms that now sport mold and cheesy tile throughout. The hotel is conveniently located, but there are better choices nearby. Everyone warns you to ask for a room away from the disco that abuts the hotel, but no one tells you... More

This colonial hotel is rich in its history and architecture. the staff was friendly and very helpful from directions to things to see. Its located in the government center and within walking distance to museums, shopping and wonderful food. More

Was not a good exp. Hotel needs to be renovated. Chairs in lobby where old and dirty. Beds are terrible..you could have a better sleep on the floor. Bathrooms were clean but need new fixtures bad. Be careful of your room. My room was directly above the disco that does not end until 3:30 am. Had to go to front... More

The only really good thing - location and price. Hotel and rooms are very tired, mattress thin and old. There is a night club in the hotel, with music until 3:30 am some days, so in some rooms would be impossible to sleep . Restaurant horrible. Until it goes through a major reno, stay away. Maybe you get what you... More

We stayed 1 week. The location is wonderful and near: Cathedral, Governor's palace, a bunch of plazas, a good bakery. pedestrian only street on one side and the horse carriages frequent the other street. The rooms are old but we like old stuff. Its definitely not for a princess who complains about everything. The history is amazing. I couldn't imagine... More
