I haven't been to Rio Caliente for many years. I am not a particular female, kinda low maintenance so most stuff is ok with me. We all need clean and hot water is necessary but fancy no. Rio Caliente is far from the airport which necessitates an expensive cab ride, back and forth, more or less about 150 both ways.... More

I got an email last week that stated, due to the "dangerous Mexico" warnings recently, the number of guests hasn't been enough to keep it operating, and they are closing for good in mid July. I could barely sleep that night, and wish I could make one last visit to my favorite place on earth, but my husband and I... More

A family friend went to Rio Caliente and expressed how much she enjoyed it. The big part that peaked our interest was the cost. So, in a moment of sheer stress and needing to get away, we booked a vacation. We knew little about the experience but trusted her opinion. Admittedly, we were concerned about the dangerous news coming out... More

I found Rio Caliente by googling quiet retreat yoga. It appeared perfect! Upon arrival I thought Rio Caliente was sweet and rustic and a great place for a relaxing getaway/retreat. I was not disappointed until I tried to sleep. Let me start with the positive... the people were great, the food was exceptionally good, the instructors and staff were also... More

I reluctantly went on my first ever female solo trip, decided on Rio Caliente because of its unpretentious but "Spa" qualities, as discovered here on Trip Advisor. I didn't want to be pressured to do anything I didn't want to do, nor be intimidated by typical "spa type guests" but wanted lots of affordable wellness available to me, in the... More

my wife and I just came back from Rio Caliente and I thought a man's perspective might be interesting. This place is sort of a spa but more of a retreat. The location is about 40 minutes from Guadalajara. It's in a canyon amongst some hills and cliffs. As the name implies there is a hot spring that runs through... More

The title of my review says it all. It is not for everyone, but it IS for me. I feel renewed with a ten day stay there. Every friend I have brought with me or told about is now a repeat visitor. And Guadalajara is a wonderful and interesting place to visit either before or after your stay at Rio... More
