It really does look disappointing from the outside but persevere and be brave and you will be rewarded with wonderful food and hospitality. We could not have had a warmer welcome or better food for breakfast or dinner. The seafood, especially the scallops, were truly to di(v)e for! The restaurant and bar were frequented by a rag, tag and bobtail... More

We are generally pleased with this posting and thank the reviewer for the positive comments. However there are a couple of matters we should address. The exterior of the building was finished in 'Skye Marble'. This kind of roughcast is supposed to 'last a life time' but we do know, from living in these islands, that this is not the... More

Like others, as we drove up and parked, we didn't feel the location matched up to the description of the inn, but the panoramic views over the hills and lochs, obtained from the dining room , were beautiful, especially as the sun set during our evening meal, which was as delicious as we expected, and if anything understated in the... Stayed 10 night here and really enjoyed the excellent food along with very freindly staff and owners. The breakfasts are some of the best I've seen with brilliant choice of food. The location is pretty central for the Uists and Benbecula and only a copuplke of minutes drive from the main road through the islands. Rioom was comfortable and the... More

Cozy welcoming restaurant and lounge and with comfy sofas and views of mountains, water and big sky. Service feels more like friends than staff - but not over-familiar. Really good food and decent wine available. (Had sole goujons as a starter 3 days in a row.)Ideal bread and chicken or salmon sandwiches for packed-lunch out-and-about. Very helpful eg dropping everything... More

This Inn is a mixed bag but I have to say that overall it is a bit disappointing. Our room (mid price) was small and a bit old fashioned, neither of which concerned us greatly. However, it was in desperate need of attention, which concerned us more. The radiator had we were told, been sat on and pulled from the... More

We wondered if we had made a mistake when we arrived here but were welcomed by three very freindly dogs! We had the superior rooms which were very spacious and clean with superb views from the little terrace outside the window. The bathroom needed some attention (the side of the bath stuck down by tape) but that was a minor... More

had a few very happy nights here, view of hotel on arrival not wonderful but don't let that put you off. Shower in the room didn't work - but the bath was nice. Walls very thin but neighbours were quiet and went to sleep at same time! Food has a good name locally and was good. Would happily return. More

Maybe we were unlucky, reading the other reviews. We went here for a meal. I chose the most expensive thing since I was on holiday (venison; £25) . For that price it needs to be exceptional. The meat was overdone. The meat was served on a pile of plain crushed potatoes, with fruity 'jus' that was as described but dull.... More

Not withstanding the increase in VAT, the cost of running any kind of business in the islands is considerably more than on the mainland. The rising cost of, already expensive, fuel and transport is causing problems throughout the islands. For this reason I am confident that we do not have to justify our prices. The venison dish chosen by this... More

We stayed there for 2 nights and while the food is very good and the staff very helpful the bedrooms are in need of refurbishing. Some local B&B's are better value. More

While we appreciate the comments on staff and food, I have to respond to the bedroom refurbishment matter. We operate a 3 year (i.e. 3 rooms every year) rolling programme re painting and, if required, decoration in our bedrooms. All other fixtures, fittings, furnishings, floor coverings and curtains are reviewed and replaced if required. Any arising problems, in all bedrooms... More

Quite remote, maybe not looking that inviting from the outside but don't let that keep you from staying here! The rooms we stayed in were the smallest ones and maybe they were in need of some updating, but everything was working and the rooms were clean. The dining room is very nice but the best thing is the food. Difficult... More
