We travelled from Stornaway to Barra, spending two nights here after exploring and beachcombing. It's a lovely place with good quality food ( esp the scallops and cockles in oatmeal!) and friendly people, a warm and lively haven. more

Amazing hostess waited for us to arrive after 9pm and nothing too much trouble. Lovely dinner and breakfast and convivial owner and staff. Would thoroughly recommend. more

I stayed at the Orasay Inn for 4 nights from the 23 August. I found the room very clean and good sized, the food was great and I didn't eat anywhere else during our stay. The staff and owners were very accommodating and really helped to make our holiday a pleasant experience. I thought the room and food were very... more

Whilst the Orasay Inn has something of a split personality, unsure if it's a pub, hotel or B & B, it does the job. It is in an excellent location with views over the local nature reserve and provides good, straight forward, clean accommodation. The restaurant serves substantial meals from an interesting menu. more

The accomodation is comfortable and the Inn is in an attractive position but the service that marks out the Orasay Inn is the quality of the food. We arrived as a family of four having cycled from Harris and having had good showers/baths we had the most fantastic dinner. The quality of all of our food was excellent but particular... more

As others have said, the rooms are quite simple, but throughout our time in the Outer Hebrides we were faced with broken kettles, clocks etc. and there was none of this here. They appeared relatively recently furbished and were nice and bright. Where the Orasay Inn really excelled was in the food department. The fish and seafood was all cooked and... more

We stayed here for one night but found staff a wee bit lax - the owner was away and so maybe that explained it. I couldn't connect to the WiFi and asked for the details but nobody had them! Although staff said they'd find them: they never did.The decor was tired and although the room was reasonably spacious and clean,... more

Spent 2 nights here, and enjoyed our stay- when we found the hotel. It is signed off the main road, but not at the next junction. In 1 mile you need to turn left at the roadside shrine, signed Rubha Ghaisinis, or else you will drive 6 miles to a dead end! The building is modern, and seems to be... more

This hotel is fine. A house that has been very much extended so modern motel like rooms that are ok but lack character. Website gives a reasonable impression. Except for food - its claims its got great food - it doesn't - its perfectly fine but not great. staff were very friendly as were other guests - the bar /... more

We had a standard twin room - which was standard! Everything was clean and basic. The food was good and plentiful - lots of choice on the menu. Location was convenient for exploring more

Management response from

Glad to see that the reviewer found the room as described! We actually use the description 'standard' to differentiate from the 'small', but not tiny rooms. It really refers to size. All our rooms are en-suite, with all facilities required in a 3 star hotel and 2 rooms have much more. We are puzzled at the comment under the heading...
