Stayed in this hotel a few months back and was shocked by the complete lack of competance from management and staff. The hotel itself is in a beautiful location and reception and general decor were all very nice. Our breakfast was adequate and dinner was edible (though had a far nicer meal in the pub over the road). Now to... More

Had a wedding reception here at short notice and the staff couldn't do enough to accomodate us all. Food and service were fantastic. Several of our relatives stayed over night and commented on how clean the rooms are, and how they were impressed with the full scottish breakfast provided in the morning. A traditional style hotel in a small rural... More

Having looked at the hotel website we were thoroughly looking forward to our weekend away at the Lochinvar, from the photos that we saw the hotel looked nice and the prices suggested this also. Unfortunately when we arrived we were taken to a very old fashioned room without a shower in the bathroom. After asking to move rooms we were... More

the hotel has been refurbished downstairs and looks a lot better than it used to - which was pretty dire, old fashioned, dull, very time warp. we didn't stay at the hotel, just dined there. have stayed at the hotel before a few years ago, when the rooms were pretty dull and needed a lot of work, and the communal... I have just stayed at this hotel and it was chosen due to it's location and exterior pictures [looked lovely]. 1) On arrival, I was given a room that was not en-suite. Changed immediately to en-suite. What I don't undersatnd is, when booking I should have been given the choice of what type of room I wanted and not assumed.... More

We were made very welcome at the Lochinvar Hotel. The rooms were warm (it was -7 degrees) nicely furnished and comfortable. The bar was a friendly place and the log fire wonderful. We were told it was dog-friendly and that proved to be more than the case. Our pooch had a great time. Finally, the breakfast was the best hotel... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel itself was easy to find, though not if you rely on the actual postal address!! Which comes up as Castle Douglas. The hotel is actually in a small village called St Johns of Dalry. Its a friendly wee village where the locals all say hi and morning and there are many local characters... More
