We arrived here and stayed two nights instead of one. Our room (the master bedroom) was beautiful and we had a huge roll top bath and power shower. Very tastefully refurbished with a homely atmosphere. The bar is a fab place to sit by the fire, read a book and chill out and the owners and staff are very pleasant.... More

First Time ever in Ardnamurchan. Arrived later than intended on a week-end visit juat at the end of the Easter holidays. The place was full, but we were still shown to rooms, invited to have a drink in bar and order up dinner. Food was superb - the lamb cooked exactly as 'pink' lamb should be and served with a... More

I stayed over the weekend arriving in sunshine at the end of march. I was greeted by the host and taken to a lovely bedroom overlooking the loch. I was later welcomed into the bar and sat talking till the small hours with a group of the locals. Food was lovely with a real attention to local produce. I had... More

This was a 3 day stay on a trip that was a combination of business and pleasure, and as such we made one or two requests that many hotels would have just dismissed. All the staff, and the proprietors were welcoming from the minuet we arrived, to our final (reluctant) check out. Not only was nothing too much trouble, but... More

Despite the time of year the hotel was excellent. The room was well prepared and comfortable. The food was of a high standard and the choice quite extensive for such a small hotel. We have been coming to the hotel for many years but the present owners have elevated the standard without damaging the 'feel' of the place. The location... More

Room a little cold. Had been poor weather, no phone lines, either at home or at hotel. Decided to head up and chance there was a room available. The room was fabulous, but a bit cold. Roll top bath was plastic, but having grown up with the real thing, think I prefered the warmer plastic bath! Still it was worth... More

What can we say?... Genuinely good old fashioned hospitality - nothing is ever too much trouble for Jonny & Julia and their staff, the rooms are comfy, the views from the front bedrooms are superb and the food is just perfect (especially the extra butterscotch sauce!). We have stayed a couple of times now, using Salen as a retreat from... More

From the second we walked through the door the bar was welcoming with a log... More

We have been visiting the Acharacle area for over ten years now and have eaten at the Salen many times, but as we always stay in a holiday cottage, we had not stayed at the Hotel before. This year we spent one night here on our way home. We have always really enjoyed eating at the hotel; the food is... More
