I went to Maho Bay Campgrounds with my boyfriend and another couple. We wanted a cheap place to stay in St John and since we are all used to a lot of hiking/camping, we did not mind the idea of staying in a glorified campground. We ended up with a quiet room with a great view from our porch. It... more

The owner of Maho are losing their location since it is a lease that is set to expire in the next year or so. Therefore, little money (or none) is being invested in the place. Go there for the location and relatively low price. The staff, as noted in other reviews, has the passive aggressive hippie thing going on. We... more

We began coming to Maho when our children were 5 and 8. When we decided to stop taking them out we continued coming on our own. For her homeymoon in July, 2008 our daughter chose Maho. That says it all. It's a great place for families and for young and less young people. It is beautiful, peaceful, beach accessible, and... more

Maho's location is its prime asset. It is very difficult to find a place on St. John that is walking distance to a sandy beach. Maho has that and its beach is beautiful. St. John is all about natural beauty and the Maho campus takes advantage of that. We had two iguanas living above our tent. I loved to take... more

Been to Maho ten times beginning in 1995. It isn't even close now to the way it was then. The staff is mostly young self centered, self righteous adult wannabes with BAD ATTITUDES. I referred to the young woman in the dining pavilion as the little Nazi. "NO SPECIAL ORDERS!" My husband just wanted the french toast to be whole... more

It's unfortunate that Maho Bay charges so much for their cabins because they really are located in beautiful surroundings. The campsite is a maze of screened in cabins overlooking the beautiful Caribbean ocean and island greenery. The breakfast in their open air restaurant was also good. I just can't recommend spending so much for shared bathrooms and camping. If you're... more

Even though we had a rough landing and drive to our resort, our stay in the Virgin Islands was wonderful. We flew into STT and hitched a "cab" to the Red Hook ferry over to St. John. Once on St. John, our main form of transportation were the open air cabs. We did not decide to rent a car because... more

I loved it, but you really need to know what you're getting before you go. Also, I went in the off-season, so there were very few folks around and the staff was in 'coasting' mode so it may be a bit different when the crowds pick up. That said: there are dozens of tent-cottages sprawled on the hill next to... more

Maho is a unique place. I could say you are either going to love it or hate it. But, the fact is that probably a lot of people that go there the first time are put off on the first day by all the steps and the camp realities (carrying up water, communal bathrooms, water leaks from rain, critters in... more

This past week I had the pleasure of visiting STJ to witness close friends get married. I traveled with the best friend of the bride and having a like travel mind, we set our sights on Maho Bay Camps for the first night before joining the balance of the wedding party. Not the easiest place to reach, which at the... more
