We stayed at Sea Breeze in Battery Hill. This was a great location and this unit has an excellent deck with great views of the Cruz Bay Area. So nice to enjoy morning coffee on. The kitchen is well stocked to facilitate some meals while in St John. We used the Landlubbers logistics grocery delivery to have our Starfish market order at the sea breeze upon our arrival. Highly recommended service. The living room allows for some relaxation after a day at the beach. The ac units work well and keep it comfortable in the sea breeze.

This is our second year staying at Sea Breeze. The condo is well furnished with great views. It is one of the few with a very large deck. It's great to sit and watch the boats come in and out of the harbor. We will consider staying here again next year. If you rent a car from St John's Car Rental you can park in their lot after 5:00 pm. I have never walked into town from Battery Hill.

Tropical Breeze is the top floor unit at Battery Hill condominiums high on a hillside overlooking Cruz Bay. It is a two bath unit with a kitchen, bedroom. dining area, open area and a balcony on the first level. There is a loft which can sleep three and a bath on the upper level. Both levels are air conditioned but due to the gentle hilltop breezes, it was rarely needed during our February 2019 stay, There is a common pool area and beach chairs and towels are available. The unit is spotless and very well maintained. The kitchen is well equipped. The location at the top of Battery Hill results in cool breezes making the balcony a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy a morning coffee while overlooking Cruz Bay. It is an easy walk downtown to shop or partake of an evening meal. Parking is notoriously difficult in Cruz Bay, and thankfully Battery Hill has its own parking lot. We have visited St. John frequently and Tropical Breeze is our favorite to stay while on the Island. It is so comfortable, feeling like an airy tree house, and its location is unbeatable. We are sure to return next year.

In February of 2018 my family returned to Tropical Breeze at the Battery Hill condominiums for our winter vacation. This was our third year staying at Tropical Breeze This is an extremely comfortable unit with the main living area downstairs and an upstairs loft. There are two bedrooms and a bath on the main level. The loft sleeps 2 to 3 with its own bath. There is also a balcony with phenomenal views overlooking Cruz Bay and back towards St. Thomas. There is a private pool and swimming deck which is a wonderful place to have morning coffee and watch the ferries come and go. Tropical Breeze is located on the top level of Battery Hill and, as its name implies, is blessed with a very comfortable breeze. The unit itself is immaculate and has a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances. It also has its own parking area, very rare in Cruz Bay. A major advantage of staying at Tropical Breeze is its in-town location. Almost every evening we would walk down the hill to visit the shops and restaurants of Cruz Bay. We could also walk over to Honeymoon Beach.Tropical Breeze is our winter "happy spot" and we look forward to returning next year.

We stayed here the first week of June. It is a cute 2 bed/1bath condo with a well equipped kitchen and a nice view. The bed in the back bedroom was quite high. I am 5' 2" and it was a climb in and out of the bed, it was also a very very firm mattress- we were not able to sleep in it and switched to the other room. There is a large private deck, but there is no shade and the sun shines on the deck from morning until evening. There is a shared pool- small lap pool. We were the only people there for part of the week and had the pool to ourselves, but others arrived mid-week. If the condo's were all rented, it would be a very crowded pool. It is very close to town, but sits up on a big hill which would be quite the walk home in the evening, especially after drinking or if you're not physically fit so I would not call it "within walking distance". It is a quick drive to town and we rented our jeep from St John Car Rentals, which allows free parking in their lot as long as there is space! Positives- it's close to town, fully air-conditioned, easy parking, nice view Negatives- Being close to town we were able to hear music playing until 2am from town, very firm mattresses, no shade on the deck (have to go to the pool deck for shade), need new beach chairs (the chairs they have were very uncomfortable).

We stayed at the Cottage at Battery Hill and it is really just "a room with a view". If you are looking for a convenient location to many activities, then this place will work. However, the room is very small and the "kitchenette" consists of a refrigerator and a microwave. The room was clean and the management company Cimmeron was great. The deck was nice and we had many nice evenings watching the sun set there. However, the big complaint about the room was that the bed was awful. It was soft, no springs whatsoever, and it had a creepy foam liner on top of the mattress (which we presumed was used to try to mask the horrible standard of the mattress). The sheets were very pilled, and they refused to stay on the creepy and creaky mattress. The problem is that at that price point per night when all you are getting is a room, the bed had better be at least acceptable. The bed was anything but acceptable.

My family of 4 just returned from a week at Rainbows End condo at Battery Hill & could not have been happier with this unit. For starters: the location is perfect-- it's a super easy 3-4 minute walk down to the bars/restaurants. We walked in to town just about every night & had a small flashlight in hand for a small unlit stretch of road. Upon arrival, we were met by Nidia, a super friendly representative from Cimmarron Mgt. She was so welcoming and answered all of our questions. What I noticed first about Rainbows End was how clean it was! The staff at Cimmarron should be commended-- they do a great job around the entire property! It has everything you need for a week-- nice beach towels, bath towels, and a fully stocked kitchen. This is not a "luxury condo"-- but is more like a home--you can see by the guest book that many people have enjoyed it for years. The huge covered deck is more of an extension of the living room. It is where we ate our dinners in & where the kids had breakfast each day. The pool was perfect--not huge, but great for an after beach dip. Be sure to look for the resident iguanas--so cool. This is an ideal place for a family of 4 or 5 looking to really be a local for the week. You will hear the music from the beach bars, so if you are a light sleeper-- bring ear plugs. Also, there is a GIANT 9- bedroom house being built next door. The workers are nice & friendly--and start at 7-8 each day. Since we were up & out all day, the construction didn't bother us once (other than the fact that it's an ostentatiously huge home) and shouldn't be a deterrent. Expect a wake up call from the islands roosters & local dogs as well--you will get that just about anywhere in Cruz Bay. Just a note: water & electricity are precious commodities on St. John-- take quick showers, don't flush all the time, skip the AC (we didn't use it once!) and turn off the water when brushing/doing dishes. Bring a refillable water bottle with you, reusable shopping bag, etc.

We rented the 2BR/1BA Sea Breeze unit during the off-season of June. The unit is great! The patio is wonderful, view of Cruz Bay is great, and the pool at Battery Hill is a lovely addition. The unit was clean and exactly as pictured (that said, the furnishings are a bit worn and both beds are creaky). The water pressure was a bit low, but that's the case in many places on the island. Towels and sheets were fresh. The location is great for getting around, but you do have to hike uphill for about 10 minutes to get there if you don't have a car. Free parking is available. We would definitely rent at Battery Hill again. A note that there is construction next door. Sea Breeze is on the opposite side of the complex, so we weren't really disturbed by the sound but other units would probably have issues. Cable TV never worked, but that was fine (we didnt bother calling to try to fix it).

I have been visiting St John for more than 25 years. Battery Hill is truly one of the places I keep coming back to. The location and quality of accommodations meet all my needs. Having stayed at several of the units in the condominium, they are all excellent. I will definitely be back for many years to come.

You must deal with two problems. 1) A loud orange backhoe can, and will legally start up at 7:00 A.M. directly below your balcony. The view from there is priceless, and they don't run the backhoe all day. 2) You must buy drinking water and toilet/showering use is restricted. Gallon jugs are too heavy to carry up the very steep road from Cruz Bay. The concierge brought us a case, but we had to pay for it. Wi-Fi was a problem. Anthony the maintenance man is an electrical engineer and fixed it. The wireless company wasn't much help. There are no fields and water is scarce, therefore all food is shipped in. Expect to pay 2X-3X for groceries. Lunch is $10. Try to get the best deal you can, but that's what you'll pay. The club below you is noisy until about midnight. Sit on the balcony and listen to the music and enjoy the view of the harbor. December was warm. Take the long ferry ride to and from St. Thomas. Arrive early.
